Bahawalpur: A dignified ceremony was held at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) in connection with World Teachers’ Day observance and to pay rich tribute to teachers for their role in promotion of education.
According to a press release issued here, the ceremony was organised jointly by the Department of Social Work at the Islamia University of Bahawalpur and Helping Hand for Relief and Development. Prof. Dr. Rubina Bhatti, Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, was the chief guest.
In her speech, Dr. Rubina Bhatti stated that Islam established the lesson of respecting teachers fourteen centuries ago. She said that the Prophet (PBUH) said that He was sent as a teacher. ‘The Holy Prophet (PBUH) is the Supreme Teacher, and all of humanity will continue to benefit from His teachings and guidance,’ she said.
Professor Dr. Asif Naveed Ranjha noted that the Department of Social Work has maintained a tradition for several years of holding a ceremony to honor teachers, during which certificates and gifts are presented in recognition of their immense contributions. He expressed his gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, IUB, for his special patronage and guidance in organizing the event. Zahid Ajmal, Regional Manager South Punjab of Helping Hand for Relief and Development, stated that The Islamia University of Bahawalpur is a magnificent institution whose faculty members have been illuminating students from across the country with the light of knowledge for over a century.
