Trauma Centre a great gift for people of Northern Sindh: RD Sindh Ombudsman

District

Sukkur: Regional Director, Provincial Ombudsman Sindh, Sukkur, Ahmed Ali Qureshi has termed the establishment of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Trauma Centre in Sukkur by the Sindh Government as a great gift for the people.

During his visit to the Trauma Centre on Friday, he said the Centre is playing a vital role in saving precious human lives by providing immediate and free medical aid to victims of serious road accidents from Sukkur, Ghotki, Khairpur, Shikarpur and other adjoining districts.

During the visit, the Regional Director inspected the laboratory, medicine store, reception desk, emergency room, ultrasound room, X-ray room, operation theater and various wards. He met with under-treatment patients and inquired about the medical facilities being provided to them.

He appreciated the administration, doctors and paramedical staff for providing quality medical care to the patients.

On the occasion, Administrator of the Trauma Centre Dr. Mahmood Qureshi and Director Dr. Zulfiqar Soomro briefed the Regional Director that the 50 bed state of the-art facility was established in July 2026.

They informed that the Centre was providing completely free medical facilities to accident victims, including X ray, ultrasound, laboratory tests, radiology, CT scan, operations, ventilator support and other essential emergency services-facilities for which patients have to pay huge amounts in private hospitals.

They said the Centre is working under the patronage of Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho and the top priority of the administration is to save lives by ensuring timely medical assistance.

In his public awareness message, Dr. Mahmood Qureshi said the basic purpose of the Trauma Centre is to provide immediate emergency medical aid and stabilize patients injured in serious accidents. Once the patient is out of danger, he is shifted to Civil Hospital Sukkur for further treatment as per requirement.

He clarified that the Trauma Centre was an emergency facility meant for stabilization, but some patients insist on getting complete treatment there even after initial aid, which is beyond the mandate of the Centre.

Later, Regional Director Ahmed Ali Qureshi also participated in an awareness seminar held at the Centre.

Assistant of Mohtasib Office Syed Khizar Abbas, doctors and paramedical staff were also present on the occasion.
