Peshawar: Two suspects arrested in connection with the killing of Station House Officer (SHO) Malagori Riaz Hussain were killed when armed men opened fire on a police party escorting them in Khyber district.
According to police, the two suspects, Ashfaq Ahmad, son of Aminullah Jan, and Hidayat Khan, son of Sabila Jan, were being taken to the crime scene for identification when their accomplices opened fire on the police team from different directions in an attempt to free them.
The police personnel remained unharmed, while the two suspects came under fire and were killed. The attackers fled the scene after the firing, and a search operation was launched in the area to arrest them.
Police said the two suspects had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the firing on SHO Riaz Hussain during a blockade operation in Malagori on Sunday. Their other accomplices had escaped at the time.
Meanwhile, Capital City Police Officer Peshawar Dr Mian Saeed Ahmad visited the residence of the martyred SHO in Jamrud and offered condolences to the bereaved family.
He also prayed for the departed soul and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
The CCPO paid tribute to Riaz Hussain for his bravery, dedication and services to the police department and directed officers to bring those involved in the incident to justice according to law.
He also directed the police to provide all possible assistance to the martyr’s family.
