Multan: Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Wing Multan detained two passengers after they were found to have travelled abroad through illegal means. According to FIA officials, the two passengers, residents of Mandi Bahauddin, arrived in Multan from the United Arab Emirates on flight G9558. During immigration clearance, their travel record was not found in the system, prompting officials to take them into custody for questioning.
The detained passengers were identified as Safdar Iqbal and Faisal Shehzad. During preliminary interrogation, the passengers reportedly disclosed that they had crossed the Taftan border illegally and travelled through Iran to reach Iraq. They further said that a travel agent named Nasir had lured them with promises of employment and facilitated their illegal departure from Pakistan and journey to Iraq.
Upon reaching Iraq, they were arrested by Iraqi police and remained in custody for around seven days. FIA officials said one of the passengers had previously been deported from Trkiye. The case has been referred to the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Multan for further investigation into the alleged travel agent and the network involved in facilitating illegal migration.
The FIA reiterated that action against human traffickers, illegal migration facilitators and individuals travelling abroad through illegal channels would continue in accordance with the law.
