US Embassy delegation visits Punjab prosecutor general’s office


Lahore: A high-level delegation from the US Embassy on Tuesday visited the office of the Prosecutor General Punjab, where it was briefed on the working of the Punjab Prosecution Department and measures being taken to prevent gender-based violence.



Prosecutor General Punjab Irfan Sadiq Tarar and Director Administration Arshad Ali Farooqi received the delegation upon its arrival.



The US delegation was given a detailed briefing on the department’s functioning and day-to-day operations, with particular focus on efforts to prevent gender-based violence in Punjab and initiatives undertaken by the Prosecutor General’s Office in this regard.



The delegation was also briefed on the status of pending and ongoing legal cases involving US citizens and the objectives and functions of the department’s High-Profile Section.



During the meeting, Prosecutor General Irfan Sadiq Tarar stressed the need to enhance the capacity of prosecution officers and staff through modern training programmes, including international-level training, to further improve the quality of justice.



He said the Prosecution Department was playing its role in ensuring timely justice for the public. He added that modern reforms were being introduced to make the justice system more accessible, transparent and expeditious.
