VDO organizes public gathering on climate change damages at Aror University

Sukkur: A public gathering on the damages caused by climate change was organized by the Village Development Organization (VDO) at Aror University, Sukkur, here on Saturday.



Addressing the gathering, Vice Chancellor Aror University, Dr Zahid Khand, said that Aror University, along with various universities of the country and social organizations, is working on climate change.



Divisional Forest Officer Sukkur, Aamir Shah, said that industry is our need, but better planning is essential for it. He said that when the railway line was built, water crossings were built at different places, but the roads that are being built now do not have provision for water crossings.



Member Sindh Bar Council, Advocate Abdul Razzaq Mahar, said that toxic water comes out of gas wells, which damages the land, but the gas field administration does not have a treatment plant. Due to the toxic water from the gas fields, the sweet water wells in the Thar areas have been damaged and agriculture has been destroyed.



Former Director Agriculture Department Sukkur, Rasool Bux Junejo, said that we all have to play our role together to improve the environment. He said that the health of livestock has to be improved; its effect also falls on the environment and climate change has left major impacts.



He said that industry has left bad effects on the environment; toxic water coming from Punjab is damaging the lands of Sindh and sugar mills are damaging the climate. The gathering was also addressed by Ali Hassan Mahar, Dr Nimat Rukhsar and others.
