ISLAMABAD:The exports of vegetables products from the country witnessed an increase of 21.11 percent during the first seven months of fiscal year 2021-22 as compared to the corresponding period of last year.
Pakistan exported vegetables products worth $ 2110.786 million during July-January (2021-22) against the exports of $ 1742.815 million during July-January (2020-21), showing growth 21.11 percent, according to the data issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The food commodities that contributed in positive growth of vegetable exports included edible vegetables, export of which grew from $112.613 million last year to $131.461 million during the fiscal year under review, showing increase of 16.73 percent.
During the months under review, the exports of cereals also witnessed an increase of 18.60 percent, from $1211.838 million to $1437.297 million whereas the export of other vegetable saps and extracts (lac, gums, resins) also grew by 11.17 percent from $21.913 million to $24.362 million.
The export of oil seed and oleaginous fruits also rose from $69.075 million to $201.651 million, witnessing increase of 191.93 percent, while the export of products of milling industry increased to $15.765 million from $11.306 million the data added.
On the other hand, the commodities that contributed in negative growth included coffee, tea, Mate and spices, export of which declined from $72.163 million last year to $64.764 million during the fiscal year under review, showing negative growth of 10.25 percent.
During the period under review, the exports of edible fruits and nuts also decreased by 3.87 percent from $238.676 million to $229.421 million.
