QUETTA:The Balochistan Environment Protection Department (EPD) was going to launch an awareness campaign to sensitive masses on climate change, ecological conservation and protection through cleanliness.
The province was facing huge deforestation that could lead to environmental degradation and habitat loss that would cause untimely torrential rains, floods, snowfall and other natural disasters in the province, a Balochistan EPD told reporter.
He said the department was taking strict action against the violators where the Balochistan Environmental Protection Agency had relocated the crushing plants from the urban population causing damage to human health and serious respiratory disease among the local people.
The Environment department was working on the conversation of brick kilns to ecofriendly Zig Zag technology helping to curb smog and hazardous emissions causing air pollution, he added.
Polythene bags, he said were affecting the ecology, habitat and beauty of the cities and recreational sites, on which the environment department has launched awareness campaigns with the help of schools, civil society, and metropolitan corporations and district administration.
“Speech competitions, painting, letter writing and other competitions on climate change have been conducted in different districts of the province by visiting schools and colleges during the awareness campaign on climate change,” he underlined.
He added that the winning participants would also be given prizes for their encouragement.
