Fake company owner convicted by AC Judge

QUETTA:The Quetta Accountability Court (AC) has sentenced the owner of a fake company namely Mozam Jan to ten years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 50 million over a charge of cheating public at large here on Friday.

Quetta Accountability Court (AC) Judge Aftab Ahmed lone announced the verdict in the light of NAB Balochistan’s investigation and irrefutable evidence against the accused. NAB Prosecutor Mohammad Dawood Jan pursued the case, said NAB press release.

NAB’s investigation into the fraud scam revealed that the accused Mozam Jan was running a fake company. He accumulated a sizeable amount from the general public in the name of investing the same in the Stock exchange business for profit. He, for quite some time returned amount with some profit to the people and later escaped depriving people of their hard earned money.

NAB, Balochistan having completed the investigation against the accused submitted the reference to the accountability court. The accused was later produced before the court wherein on the directives of honorable court he was sent to jail.

The Honorable Accountability Court of Quetta after several hearings sentenced the accused to imprisonment and a fine.

It may be mentioned here that after the conviction the accused is disqualified for 10 years to hold any public office or contest election and he also not allowed to apply for or allow any financial facility and any form of loan or advance from any Bank or financial institution as provided under section 15 of National Accountability Ordinance 1999.
