PESHAWAR:The installation of 6000 durable fixed seating, imported from Spain, has been started at PCB-ICC certified Cricket Stadium in Hayatabad Sports Complex, Director General of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sports Asfandyar Khan Khattak informed on Monday.
He stated this while talking to media during his visit to the complex as per the directive of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan here.
All 6000 durable fixed seating having full comfort level would be installed within the next two months besides 2500 other durable fixed seating, also imported from Spain, would be reaching next month and to be installed in VIP, and VVIP enclosures of the main pavilion.
He said 90 percent work on the pavilion was completed and that was why the process of installing comfortable seats imported from Spain has been started.
It has also been decided to hold the semi-finals and final matches of the PCB Inter-School U16 Cricket Championship at the Hayatabad Cricket Stadium on Nov 3 and 4, 2021.
DG Sports KP Asfandyar Khattak formally inaugurated the installation of seats. Senior Project Manager NLC Col. Gohar Aftab, Administrator Hayatabad Sports Complex Shah Faisal, caretaker Yasir Khan and Senior PCB Curator Lala Tariq Khan were also present on the occasion.
The Hayatabad Cricket Stadium, approved by the PCB-ICC is going to be completed at a total cost of Rs 193 million on the special directive of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and will be completed by the end of December or early January.
He said that glass wall and ceiling work of the first and second floors of the five story pavilion has been started. He said preparation on 9 pitches of international standard have been completed while work currently continued on seven other practice pitches which are being prepared on fast track and PCB Curator Tariq Khan is looking after all pitches.
He said that 6,000 comfortable fixed seats have been specially called from Spain while 2500 VIP-Enclosure seats will arrive next month. He said that in the light of the directive of the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the completion work on the Stadium is in full swing and according to the Project Director NLC should hand over the Stadium to Pakistan Cricket Board delegates in December for playing purposes.
Asfandyar Khattak said that PSL, Women National team international matches and modern style school cricket matches would be held at the ground in future. He also thanked the delegations of the PCB and the International Cricket Council for extending their guideline time to time to the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government as far as construction of a well-equipped and modern-time Cricket Stadium at Hayatabad Sports Complex. He said, a modern touch like Australian, England, and New Zealand spectators’ fences with grassy surfaces have also been developed in order to ensure full entertaining look to the general public during international matches.
The civil work of the electronic scoreboard has been completed and the modern electronic scoreboard will arrive from Spain next month and soon be installed on modern lines. He said that the drainage of the ground has already been completed. The semi-finals and final of the PCB-KP Inter-School U16 Cricket Championship, being organized jointly by PCB, KP government and Education Department KP would be organized next month in order to provide much needed international like atmosphere to the upcoming players associated with school cricket.
Asfandyar Khattak said that hopefully Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mahmood Khan would grace the occasion as chief guest at the final and prize distribution ceremony of the PCB Inter-School Cricket Championship final.
