MUZAFFARGARH: Secretary Local Government South Punjab Altaf Baloch on Friday said that the provincial government was determined to purge the province of coronavirus.
For this, a special drive of corona vaccination was launched at door steps to save people from COVID-19, he said in a review meeting arranged in connection with the drive titled as ‘corona at yours doorstep’ on Friday.
The Secretary said with the timely measures, they had succeeded to overcome the disease by and large. At present, the rate of corona patients has come down to one per cent.
He termed the sole solution to prevent corona was getting vaccination, adding that those who were vaccinated declared safer during fourth wave of corona.
He directed health department officials to vaccinate as many people as possible during this special campaign so that every member of the household would be protected from this contagious disease.
He said that people should also be made aware of this so that they could get vaccinated themselves.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza said under Corona Vaccination Centres, 42 per cent of the district population was vaccinated.
He said a target of 1.2 million doses of vaccine was set here through this special campaign for which 449 teams of health department were constituted.
He said that about 36, 000 people are being vaccinated daily.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner General Ehsanul Haq, CEO Health Dr Fayyaz Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner Abida Farid, Deputy Director Local Government Abdul Ghaffar Khan Gopang, DHO Dr Amir Bakhsh, officials of health department and related departments.
