ISLAMABAD: Pakistan boys’ team made it to the finals of ITF Asia 12 and under team competition after trouncing Nepal 3-0 at Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Complex Islamabad on Tuesday.
The event, which serves as Asian U-12 ITF regional qualifiers was hosted by PTF in collaboration with Toyota-Indus Motors Company.
Hamza Roman and Abubakar Talha edged passed Darsheel Shrestha and Nishad Joshi 6-0, 6-1 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively in boys’ singles, whereas in doubles’ fixture the pair of Abubakar Talha and Mikaeel Shahbaz Ali Baig saw off Darsheel Shrestha and Boris Adhikari.
The finals will be held in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan in the third week of November.
Pakistan girls’ team also defeated Nepal 3-0 and will face Maldives on Wednesday to decide which team will qualify for Kazakhstan finals.
Zunaisha Noor and Haniya Minhas thrashed Mansa Kandel and Shivali Gurang 6-1, 6-2 and 6-0, 6-0 respectively in girls’ singles, while in doubles Haniya Minhas pairing with Lalarukh Sajid beat Mansa Kandel and Shivali Gurang 6-0, 6-1.
Meanwhile, the Indian girls’ team beat Maldives 3-0. Harithashree Venktesh and Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi overwhelmed Sarah Saamee Mohamed and Naba Nishan 6-1, 6-0 and 6-3, 6-0 respectively. In doubles fixture the pair of Jahnvi Kajla and Harithashree beat Naba Nishan Andimani Moosa Kaleem 5-2, 6-1.
The prize distribution ceremony will be held on Wednesday.
