SIU arrests 4 members of robbers gang

KARACHI:The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Sindh Police on Tuesday arrested four members of a notorious inter-provincial robbers gang in a joint operation with a federal intelligence agency at M.T Khan Road.

The arrested accused included a ringleader of the notorious Parachinar gang, said Senior Superintendent of Police SIU, Arif Aziz.

The accused were identified as Syed Nasir Hussain alias Pir ringleader, Muhammad Ali, Jalal alias Shatta and Kamal Hussain, who were wanted to police in bank heists, breaking bank lockers and attacks on police.

Upon their indication, the SIU also recovered Rs. 1.5 million cash, prize bonds worth Rs. 2.3 million, a nine mm pistol, three 30 bore pistols, gas cylinder along with gas cutter, iron cutter and a vehicle.

The arrested accused were blamed of committing offenses in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar Multan and Quetta. 20 other members of the gang were still at large.

The accused used to get their men recruited as security guards in different security companies, police informed adding, after inducting them as security guards, they were deployed in different banks where they used to collect details.

Later with the help of these security guards, they committed bank robberies, broke and cut the lockers and looted the cash, prize bonds and gold jewelery, police said.

Further investigations were underway.
