198 ‘criminals’ arrested during ongoing week


Sargodha: The police arrested more than alleged 198 outlaws involved in serious criminal activities during the current ongoing week after intensifying crackdown against violent offenders, organized gangs and property criminals across the district.



Police spokesman said here on Friday that effective strategies adopted by Sargodhga Police, modern policing techniques and sustained operations by investigation officers led to the arrest of thousands of accused persons involved in a wide range of heinous crimes.



He said that all arrested suspects were being challaned in their respective cases and produced before courts of law to ensure that offenders were brought to justice through due legal process.



According to police statistics, more than 43 dangerous accused involved in murder and attempted murder cases were arrested during the ongoing week.



The police were continuing vigorous prosecution of these cases to secure convictions and provide justice to victims and their families, he added.



He said that more than 12 suspects involved in dacoity, robbery, burglary and cattle theft were also arrested and sent behind bars. These operations significantly contributed to reducing criminal activities and improving public safety in urban as well as rural areas of the district, he added.



He said that the police also achieved notable success against vehicle theft networks by arresting nearly 38 suspects involved in car and motorcycle theft cases. As a result of these arrests, the investigators successfully traced and solved numerous pending cases.



Similarly, more than nine suspects involved in snatching motorcycles, cars and other vehicles were apprehended and sent to jail after completion of legal formalities, he added.



He said that the police arrested over 09 suspects involved in serious offences such as kidnapping and rape, ensuring legal action against the accused and facilitating the provision of justice to victims.



The police also conducted successful operations against the accused wanted in other serious criminal cases and disposed of numerous investigations through effective detection and arrest efforts, he added.



He said that the police also launched targeted crackdowns against criminal gangs and arrested members of dozens of gangs operating in different parts of the district.



During these operations, the police recovered stolen property worth millions of rupees from the possession of the accused, he added.
