Rawalpindi: City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera has ordered the registration of a case against three Dhamyal Police Station officials after an inquiry confirmed corruption allegations against them.

According to a Rawalpindi Police spokesperson, the action was initiated after a citizen lodged a complaint alleging corruption by officials of Dhamyal Police Station.

On the CPO’s directions, an immediate inquiry was conducted. After the allegations were found to be true, a criminal case was registered against the three officials, identified as Hamza, Sayab and Naseem, and they were arrested.

The CPO also ordered the suspension of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Dhamyal Police Station for negligence of duty and directed that a charge sheet be issued against him.

Sukhera said corruption, abuse of authority and negligence in official duties would not be tolerated under any circumstances, adding that strict action would continue against any official found involved in misconduct.

Peshawar: Access to justice will now be available to every citizen, as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government inaugurated the Legal Aid Agency here on Wednesday.

The agency was inaugurated by Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Interior and Tribal Affairs, Tariq Saeed Marwat, on the directives of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Muhammad Sohail Khan Afridi.

According to an official statement, eligible and underprivileged citizens will be provided with free legal assistance in criminal and family cases through the newly established agency.

Officials termed the initiative an important milestone towards facilitating easy access to justice, strengthening the rule of law, and establishing an effective and transparent criminal justice system in the province.

The provincial government is also taking steps to further strengthen the capacity of the Prosecution Department to ensure the delivery of timely, transparent, and effective justice to the public, the statement added.

(R) Nadeem Nasir on Wednesday paid a surprise visit to the New District Commissioner Complex and reviewed the functioning of various departments, offices, public facilitation centres, ongoing construction work, cleanliness and overall administrative arrangements.

During the visit, he received a detailed briefing from the relevant officers on the progress of construction, available facilities and administrative affairs.

The DC directed the authorities concerned to improve the remaining construction work and finishing standards to ensure the complex provides citizens with a modern, organised and pleasant environment.

He also ordered that high standards of cleanliness be maintained at all times, with more effective sanitation arrangements inside and around the building, and called for greater attention to plantation, maintenance and the upkeep of green belts.

Nasir said the cleanliness, order and appearance of government offices not only reflected the institution’s image but also strengthened public confidence.

He directed officers to further improve public facilitation services at the complex, ensure that all essential facilities remained fully functional and immediately address any shortcomings.

The DC made it clear that no compromise would be accepted on the quality of construction work and instructed that all remaining tasks be completed in accordance with prescribed standards and timelines.
