Rawalpindi: The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Rawalpindi has successfully concluded the Intermediate First Annual Examination 2026 under optimal administrative arrangements, with the board management promising absolute transparency and merit in the preparation of final results.

Chairman BISE Rawalpindi Professor Dr. Iqbal Mehmood praised Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, Secretary Amjad Iqbal Khattak and the invigilation staff for executing their duties with professional integrity. He reiterated that the marking process for both Matriculation and Intermediate papers will strictly adhere to impartiality to ensure every candidate receives the actual reward for their hard work, in line with the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan, after visiting multiple examination centers in Taxila, Hasan Abdal, and Rawalpindi, extended his gratitude to the district administrations, regional college directors, institutional heads, and law enforcement agencies across Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, and Murree. He noted that the smooth completion of the exams was made possible through coordinated teamwork and multi-departmental support, marking a significant milestone in promoting a transparent assessment system.

Peshawar: The district administration on Wednesday warned shopkeepers that selling cigarettes and other tobacco products to underage individuals is a punishable offence under the Tobacco Control Act, 2011, and urged strict compliance with the law.

Presiding over a meeting on tobacco control, Assistant Commissioner Peshawar Saddar Hasina Khan said the district administration would intensify enforcement to prevent the sale of tobacco products to minors and protect young people from the harmful effects of smoking.

She said smoking is prohibited at educational institutions, healthcare facilities, public transport and other public places under the law, adding that violators would face legal action.

The meeting was informed that the sale of cigarettes and other tobacco products within a 20-metre radius of educational institutions and health centres is also prohibited under the Tobacco Control Act.

Hasina Khan directed the relevant departments to ensure effective implementation of tobacco control regulations through regular inspections and awareness campaigns.

She said retailers must comply with legal requirements regarding the sale of tobacco products and cooperate with the authorities.

Expressing concern over the growing trend of smoking among youth, she said the government is committed to discouraging tobacco consumption and safeguarding public health through strict enforcement of existing laws.

Chiniot: Police Khidmat Markaz Chiniot is providing services to citizens with modern facilities, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for better public service delivery.

The performance report of the Markaz for the month of June has been released. More than 9,000 citizens benefited from various police services at the Police Khidmat Markaz Chiniot last month.

During June, 2,238 learner permits, 947 learner permit renewals, 2,764 new regular licenses, and 14 new international driving licenses were issued through the center.

The police also registered 1,731 police verifications, 453 character certificates, 141 tenancy registrations, and 72 missing persons reports last month.

In addition, vehicle and mobile verification, employee verification, and other police services were provided. Speaking in this regard, District Police Officer Dr. Naveed Atif said all possible steps are being taken to improve public service delivery and promote public-friendly policing.

He added that 15 different facilities are being provided to citizens under one roof at the Police Service Centers, with timely guidance and facilities offered as per modern requirements.
