Sialkot: A team from the National Incubation Center (NIC) Sialkot,operating under the Ministry of Information Technology, visited the Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) on Wednesday to discuss collaboration on student internships and entrepreneurship initiatives.

According to a university statement,the delegation met Vice Chancellor(VC),Prof.Dr.Shazia Bashir and shared a proposed internship program aimed at enhancing students’ professional skills and employability.

The meeting also focused on expanding job and entrepreneurial opportunities for students,besides discussing the establishment of a display center and a sub-office of the NIC at the university.

Bahawalpur: Member of the Punjab Assembly Sadia Bilal has expressed her heartfelt gratitude to leader of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) and former premier, Nawaz Sharif, sitting Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, and Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz for issuing directions to restore operations at Bahawalpur Airport.

In a press release issued here, she stated that, as a result of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s special interest and directives, the important decision to resume operations at Bahawalpur Airport has been made. According to her, this was a long-standing demand of the people of South Punjab, particularly the residents of Bahawalpur. She added that the restoration of airport operations will not only improve air travel facilities but will also promote trade, economic development, and tourism across the region.

Sadia Bilal further said that she had previously submitted a resolution in the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab calling for the restoration of Bahawalpur Airport. The resolution was unanimously passed by the House. She also thanked all members of the Provincial Assembly for their cooperation in resolving this important public issue.

Sialkot: Government College Women University Sialkot (GCWUS) on Wednesday highlighted its progress over the past one-and-a-half years,outlining key developments in digitisation,infrastructure,transport and renewable energy during a briefing for alumni.

According to a university statement,the institution has successfully implemented a Campus Management System and completed the digitisation of its administrative processes.

Around 7,000 students have also been shifted to the new campus.

The university said it had established the Dr.Muhammad Hassan Siddiqui Mango Orchard,comprising 480 mango trees, as well as the Dr.Allama Muhammad Iqbal Center of Excellence.

It further stated that a surveillance system with 250 cameras and a data centre had been installed, while the auditorium had been renovated with a false ceiling,wall panelling, air-conditioning, an SMD screen and a digital rostrum. Four common rooms have also been established for students.

The statement added that transport facilities had been upgraded through the purchase of two new buses,the repair of two existing buses and the donation of a Mazda vehicle by the Horticulture Society.

Another bus,which had remained out of service for 15 years was being renovated and was expected to return to service within the next fortnight.

The university said the solarisation of both campuses was underway and was expected to be completed within the next two months.
