Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Law, Human Rights and Parliamentary Affairs Aftab Alam on Thursday chaired a meeting to review issues related to provision of land for construction of the Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI) building.

The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Information Shafi Jan, Member of the National Assembly Shehryar Afridi, Special Assistant to Chief Minister on Industries Humayun Khan, Chairman District Development Advisory Committee (DDAC) Kohat Daud Shah, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Secretary Industries Amjad Ali Khan, Deputy Commissioner Kohat Nawaz Khan Wazir, President Kohat Chamber of Commerce and Industries Rasheed Paracha, and senior officials from relevant departments.

The participants conducted a detailed review of the proposed allocation of land for KCCI and examined legal, administrative and revenue related hurdles besides discussing various proposals for their sustainable resolution.

During the briefing, officials informed that Kohat chamber is the only active chamber serving the southern districts of the province. They also highlighted that work is progressing on the establishment of a Salt and Gypsum City in Karak to promote industrial development in the region.

The meeting also deliberated on legal position that government land cannot be permanently transferred to a private entity. Various options including permanent transfer and purchase of land for chamber were discussed in detail to identify a legally viable solution.

Special Assistant Humayun Khan reaffirmed the provincial government’s continued support for the business community stating that government has consistently extended cooperation to the chamber whenever required.

Addressing the participants, Aftab Alam said the provincial government considers promotion of industry, trade and investment among its top priorities. He said providing timely solutions to problems faced by business community and ensuring the availability of essential infrastructure would not only strengthen economic activity but it would also create new employment opportunities.

The law minister directed all relevant departments to remove legal and administrative bottlenecks through close coordination so that project could move forward without unnecessary delay. He instructed officials to expedite all legal formalities and keep his office regularly informed about progress.

Gujrat: District Police Officer (DPO) Akhtar Farooq visited the police guard deployed at the Chenab Railway Bridge to inspect security arrangements and review the performance of the personnel on duty. According to a police spokesperson, the DPO checked the attendance of the officials, inspected the security measures at the bridge and reviewed the deployment of police personnel. He directed the officers and officials to remain alert and perform their duties with vigilance to ensure effective security.

The DPO also instructed the personnel to remain prepared to respond promptly to any emergency or suspicious activity and ensure strict implementation of security protocols. He said the protection of key public installations remained among the top priorities of the police.

Muzaffargarh: A 15-year-old motorcyclist on Thursday was injured in a collision with a car near Dargah Pir Jagi area in District, Layyah, the Rescue 1122 officials said. They said that the teenager identified as Muhammad Imran sustained injuries in the crash. A Rescue 1122 team responded to the scene, provided first aid and transported the victim to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Kot Sultan, the rescue officials said.

Sialkot: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) organised a traffic safety workshop for Rescue 1122 officers and officials at the Central Rescue Station on Kutchehry Road to promote road safety and safe driving practices.

According to media representatives, the workshop was held on the special instructions of Superintendent of Police Imdadullah Shahid. Participants were briefed on traffic laws, safe motorcycle riding, mandatory helmet use, lane discipline, speed limits, traffic signals and precautionary measures for driving on highways and motorways.

Speaking on the occasion, Inspector Shehbaz said strict compliance with traffic laws was essential to prevent accidents and protect precious human lives. District Emergency Officer Engineer Naveed Iqbal said observance of traffic rules was indispensable for reducing road accidents and ensuring public safety.

At the end of the workshop, the participants pledged to follow traffic laws and help create awareness about safe driving and road safety among the public.

Kohat: Additional Assistant Commissioner-III (Gambat), Syed Mukhtiar Shah, conducted an inspection visit to the Women and Children Park on Thursday in Babri Banda under the directives of DC Kohat.

During the visit, Syed Mukhtiar reviewed the current state of the facility and issued immediate instructions regarding its maintenance.

Key directives included ensuring thorough cleanliness, repairing swings and play equipment, grass cutting, and the proper maintenance of green spaces.

Furthermore, Mr. Shah emphasized the importance of increasing plantation efforts within the park.

He issued strict orders to ensure the regular watering and protection of plants, and directed officials to expedite the completion of all pending development work within the stipulated timeframe.

Hyderabad: Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousif Shaikh on Thursday said that maintaining law and order in the district, ensuring full implementation of the revised National Action Plan (NAP) and strengthening coordination among all relevant departments are the need of the hour.

He stated that a peaceful atmosphere, religious harmony and brotherhood prevailed throughout the district during Muharram-ul-Haram.

He appreciated the efforts of the SSP Matiari, Pakistan Army, Pakistan Rangers, Assistant Commissioners and all concerned departments whose collective coordination ensured that Muharram passed peacefully.

He expressed these views while presiding over the meeting of the District Coordination Committee on the Revised National Action Plan (NAP), held at latif hall, deputy commissioner secretariat Matiari.

The deputy commissioner said that just as Muharram-ul-Haram concluded peacefully, all departments should continue to work in close coordination during the 283rd Annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) to ensure a safe, secure and peaceful environment for thousands of devotees. He emphasized that if any department faces any issue regarding authority or operational matters, it should immediately contact the district administration so that timely decisions can be made to resolve the matter.

While briefing the meeting, SSP Matiari Abdul Aleem Bullo said that all departments performed their responsibilities efficiently during Muharram-ul-Haram through mutual cooperation, and any issues that arose were resolved immediately through a coordinated strategy.

He said that the Annual Urs of Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA) is the district’s largest gathering, for which a comprehensive security plan has been prepared. He informed the meeting that around 3,700 police personnel will be deployed for security and patrolling duties, while continuous surveillance, patrolling and security reviews will be carried out in Bhitshah and surrounding areas to ensure maximum public safety.

The deputy commissioner directed the social welfare department to launch a strict crackdown against professional beggars, particularly women engaged in organized begging, during the Urs. He also instructed the assistant commissioners to accelerate anti-encroachment operations and remove all illegal encroachments from public roads and the Urs venue. The food department was directed to take strict action against hoarders and ensure the availability, quality and sale of essential food items at government-prescribed prices.

The deputy commissioner further directed the excise and taxation department to launch a special campaign from July 28 to August 1 against the sale and smuggling of illegal cigarettes. He also ordered a strict crackdown to ensure the implementation of official LPG gas prices so that no trader is allowed to indulge in profiteering.

The meeting was attended by officers and officials of all relevant government departments of District Matiari.
