Larkana: A significant meeting was held in District Larkana under the Deputy Commissioner Larkana, Tariq Manzoor Chandio, regarding the rising prices of LPG here on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner-I Larkana Syed Ghazanfar Ali Shah, Assistant Commissioner Larkana Raja Qureshi, DSP Haideri Ahmed Bakhsh Rahujo, Assistant Director of the Bureau of Supply and Price Department Larkana Mir Shah Nawaz Sheikh, and other relevant officials.

On this occasion, the Assistant Director of the Bureau of Supply and Price Department briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the excessive prices of LPG in District Larkana and also apprised him of the new notified price by OGRA, in accordance with the notification issued by OGRA on June 30, 2026.

According to the notification, the maximum price of LPG for consumers has been fixed at Rs. 241.43 per kilogram, while the maximum price for an 11.8 kg domestic cylinder is Rs. 2848.91.

The Deputy Commissioner Larkana directed all Assistant Commissioners of District Larkana, the Police Department, the Assistant Director of the Bureau of Supply and Price Department Larkana, and all Mukhtarkars (revenue officers) of District Larkana to ensure the implementation of the newly notified LPG prices and to take strict action against violators.

He further instructed that a daily implementation report be submitted to the office of the Deputy Commissioner Larkana.

Faisalabad: Faisalabad has witnessed a remarkable improvement in law and order during the current year, with overall crime dropping by 63 percent compared to the corresponding period last year which reflected the success of an effective policing strategy, strengthened patrol mechanisms and intelligence-led operations spearheaded by City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain.

A police spokesman said on Saturday that the significant reduction in crime has been achieved through modern policing techniques, timely action against criminal elements, enhanced patrolling, effective picketing and indiscriminate operations against offenders across the district.

He said that comprehensive strategy has substantially improved public safety and reinforced citizens’ confidence in the law enforcement system.

Giving some statistics, he said that murder cases declined by 40 percent during the current year compared to the same period last year while attempted murder incidents registered 45 percent decrease.

Similarly, dacoity-cum-murder cases dropped by 50 percent whereas incidents of dacoity and robbery declined by 66 percent and 64 percent respectively, indicating a marked improvement in the district’s security situation, he added.

He also highlighted a substantial reduction in vehicle-related crimes and said that incidents of snatching of other vehicles fell by 60 percent, car snatching by 50 percent and motorcycle snatching by 66 percent. Likewise, theft of other vehicles decreased by 54 percent, car theft by 72 percent and motorcycle theft by 63 percent over the corresponding period of the previous year, he added.

Bourewala: A teenage worker died after suffering critical head injuries in an incident at a generator workshop. The Rescue 1122 said the deceased was identified as Zulqarnain Khan, who was working at ZumZum Generator Workshop near 435/EB on Chichawatni Road. Rescuers said he was loading an engine onto a generator when a heavy metal part hanging above suddenly fell and struck him on the head. He was shifted to a local hospital in a critical condition but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Abbottabad: With heavy monsoon rains continuing across the region, the District Administration Abbottabad has intensified its flood preparedness measures by inspecting vulnerable locations and directing all concerned departments to remain on high alert to protect lives, property, and critical infrastructure.

The Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed inspection of flood-prone areas to review preparedness for the ongoing monsoon season. The visit was attended by representatives of the National Highway Authority (NHA), Water and Sanitation Services Company Abbottabad (WSSCA), Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Abbottabad, Local Government Department, Roads and Drainage Department (RandDD), Irrigation Department, Rescue 1122, Civil Defence, Cantonment Board, Traffic Police, the Assistant Commissioner Headquarters, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief and Human Rights), the District Reconciliation Committee (DRC), and other relevant agencies.

During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to ensure the availability, installation, and operational readiness of dewatering pumps at low-lying areas and other flood-prone locations to facilitate the immediate drainage of rainwater during heavy downpours.

He also ordered the cleaning of natural streams and drainage channels, removal of encroachments obstructing water flow, availability of emergency machinery, activation of the Quick Response Force, implementation of alternative traffic management plans, and enhanced coordination among all concerned departments to ensure an effective response to any emergency.

Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram reaffirmed that the district administration is utilizing all available resources to protect lives and property during the monsoon season. He emphasized that timely emergency response, effective flood management, and strong inter-agency coordination remain the administration’s top priorities to minimize the impact of heavy rainfall and ensure public safety.

Kohat: A young boy drowned after falling in a pond in Rasai Qasaba areas of Kohat, police said here on Saturday.

According to police, a young boy identified as Abdul Mateen fell in a pond and drowned. His body was fished out by Rescue 1122 team and locals. The ill fated youngster was resident of Shakardarra.

A ban has already been imposed by district administration on bathing, swimming and boating in dams, rivers and water reservoirs.

The ban has been imposed as part of measures to save lives during monsoons and floods.

Rawalpindi: Taxila Police gave a swift response to an emergency Rescue 15 call and saved the life of a woman after she and her husband were allegedly forced to consume poison in an apparent honour-related attack.

Four suspects, including one who was injured during an exchange of fire with police, were arrested at the scene.

According to a police spokesperson, the police team rushed to the location after receiving the emergency call and found the husband and wife in a semi-conscious condition.

As soon as the suspects noticed the police party, they allegedly opened fire, prompting police to retaliate. During the operation, four accused, including one injured suspect, were arrested and weapons were recovered from their possession.

The victims were immediately shifted to hospital for medical treatment. However, the woman’s husband, identified as Afzal, succumbed to his condition. Police said the exact cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem examination.

The woman survived due to the timely intervention of the police and prompt medical treatment. She remains under treatment at the hospital.

Police said the couple had allegedly been forced to consume poison by the accused in the name of so-called “honour.” A case is being registered, and investigators are collecting evidence to ensure the arrested suspects are prosecuted and awarded punishment in accordance with the law.

The accused would be challaned with solid evidence after completion of the investigation, the spokesperson added.
