Abbottabad: Ayub Medical Institution (AMI) on Sunday launched a tree plantation campaign aimed at promoting environmental sustainability and providing a greener, healthier atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff.

The campaign was formally inaugurated by Chairman of the Board of Governors, Professor Dr. Abid Jameel, who planted a sapling to mark the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Jameel highlighted the importance of trees in reducing pollution, combating the effects of climate change, and ensuring a greener Pakistan for future generations. He called upon hospital employees, students, and the public to actively participate in the plantation drive by planting more trees.

He said that, in addition to delivering quality healthcare services, maintaining a clean, green, and pleasant environment remained one of the institution’s key priorities. Under the campaign, a large number of saplings will be planted across different areas of the hospital to improve the environment for patients, attendants, and healthcare workers

Bahawalpur: Rescue-1122 officials fished out the body of an unidentified man from a canal in Yazman Road area.

The Rescue Punjab control room received information about a body floating in a seasonal canal on Yazman Road. The rescue personnel reached the scene, retrieved the body and informed the District Police Control Room.

The body was shifted to the hospital morgue. Local police have been investigating the incident.

Peshawar: Pakistani authorities have allowed 70 Pakistani students stranded in Afghanistan due to the prolonged closure of the Torkham border crossing to return home safely.

According to the border official on Sunday, the students had been unable to travel for several months amid border tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan and had been waiting at the border for the past three days.

Following the necessary arrangements and coordination between the relevant authorities, the students were granted entry into Pakistan. They were provided with food and essential facilities before being sent to their hometowns.

The returning students expressed gratitude to the authorities for facilitating their crossing and hoped that similar humanitarian cases would continue to receive priority in the future.
