Sheikhupura: Two women were killed and a man injured after a car collided with a 22-wheeler truck on the Lahore-Sialkot motorway near Sheikhupura on Tuesday, the Rescue officials said. The Rescue teams shifted the bodies to the Tehsil Headquarters (THQ) Hospital, Muridke in the presence of police. The deceased were identified as Farzana Naseem 60 and Sana30 years old. The injured man was identified as Nadeem 60 year old, they added. The police started investigation.

Mirpur: Preparations are underway across Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) to observe the 79th Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan Day on July 19. Organizers said the day will be marked with ceremonies, public gatherings, and other events aimed at commemorating the anniversary and reaffirming support for the accession of the former princely state of Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan, the local correspondent of reporter reported this from Mirpur on Tuesday.

According to organizers, political, social, and civil society groups are finalizing programmes in towns and cities across AJK, while similar observances are also expected among Kashmiri communities in other parts of the world. The main ceremony will be held in Muzaffarabad, with parallel events planned at divisional and district headquarters, where speakers are expected to address the historical significance of the July 19, 1947 resolution.

Rawalpindi: Chairman of the Chief Minister’s Inspection Team, Punjab and Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) Raja Hanif Advocate on Tuesday inaugurated the completed rehabilitation of the Faizabad Interchange slip road, including the installation of informative signboards, aimed at improving traffic flow and commuter convenience.

Speaking on the occasion, Raja Hanif appreciated the professional performance and commitment of the Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) team for completing the project on schedule. He said the timely completion of public infrastructure projects was essential for improving traffic flow, enhancing public convenience and ensuring safe transportation facilities for citizens.

He said the rehabilitation of the Faizabad Interchange and the installation of informative signboards would facilitate commuters and contribute to a more efficient traffic management system. He also commended the RDA for maintaining quality standards and adhering to the approved timeline.

Hanif said the timely completion of the project reflected the Punjab government’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure and providing better facilities to the public, adding public welfare projects would continue to be implemented on a priority basis across Rawalpindi.

Upon his arrival, Raja Hanif was received by Deputy Director Engineering RDA Jawad Arshad and other officials of the RDA.

According to the RDA, the project was launched on March 6, 2026, at an approved cost of Rs15.490 million. The authority completed the construction and rehabilitation work within the stipulated timeframe and formally handed over the project.
