Nowshera: Four people were injured after a passenger rickshaw collided with a motorcycle and overturned on the Badurta Road in Nowshera Virkan on Monday, according to local authorities.

The accident left several passengers, including women and a young man, injured. Bystanders responded quickly, launching rescue efforts immediately after the crash.

Three seriously injured women were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Nowshera Virkan for medical treatment. Hospital sources said the injured were receiving treatment and were reported to be out of danger.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known. Authorities have not released further details about the condition of the motorcycle rider or whether an investigation has been launched.

Sukkur: The Gambat Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS) has introduced Drug-l Coated Balloon (DCB) Angioplasty at its Cardiology Ward, bringing a tent free solution for patients with complex small vessel coronary disease.

The advanced treatment is designed specifically for small caliber coronary vessels where traditional stenting poses challenges. Unlike conventional angioplasty, the DCB technique uses a balloon that both opens the narrowed vessel and delivers anti proliferative medication directly to the vessel wall with no permanent stent implanted.

Dr Raheem Bux Bhatti, Founder and Director of GIMS, announced the launch, noting that the technology expands treatment options for patients who were previously poor candidates for stenting. “Our goal is to bring world class cardiac interventions to Gambat so patients in Sindh and all other provinces have access to the latest, safest treatments close to home, Dr Bhatti said.

Dr Ghulam Jaffar Shah, Consultant Cardiologist at GIMS, explained the clinical advantage for complex small vessel disease, leaving no metal behind reduces long-term complications. The balloon performs the mechanical dilation and drug delivery in one step, and we are seeing excellent clinical outcomes in suitable patients.

He said that the key benefits of DCB Angioplasty at GIMS including no permanent stent implanted, reduces risk of late stent, thrombosis and allows natural vessel healing, balloon opens the vessel plus delivers drug directly to prevent restenosis and excellent clinical outcomes for complex small vessel disease cases . He said that the stent free solution preserves future treatment options

The procedure is now available at the GIMS Gambat Cardiology Ward for patients referred by cardiologists. The institute expects the technology to significantly improve care for diabetic patients and others with diffuse disease in small coronary arteries.

Dera ismail khan: A delegation from the Dera Chamber of Agriculture met the Assistant Commissioner Dera to raise concerns over the acute water shortage in the Chashma Right Bank Canal (CRBC), alleging that water theft and irregularities in the canal system were severely affecting irrigation across the district.

The delegation, led by Chamber of Agriculture President Haji Abdul Rashid Dhap, said the persistent shortage of canal water was mainly caused by the alleged theft of water along the western side of the canal, the existence of illegal outlets (moghas), and unauthorized obstructions in various distributaries. These issues, they said, were preventing a fair supply of water to the tail-end areas.

The delegation acknowledged the district administration’s ongoing operation against water theft, describing it as a positive initiative. However, it stressed that the campaign needed to be intensified to eliminate illegal watercourses, unauthorized outlets and other obstructions disrupting the irrigation system.

The representatives also called for indiscriminate legal action against those involved in water theft, regardless of their influence, to ensure that farmers receive their rightful share of irrigation water without delay.

They warned that the water shortage was seriously affecting agricultural activities across the district, with crops such as rice, sugarcane and other seasonal produce facing significant losses. They added that unless the canal system was cleared of illegal interference, agricultural output would decline further, causing heavy financial losses to farmers.

The assistant commissioner assured the delegation that the district administration was committed to ensuring the equitable distribution of canal water and would further strengthen its crackdown on water theft to safeguard the interests of farmers.

Darya khan: A woman was killed and two others were seriously injured in a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a Toyota Hilux pickup near Jahan Khan Adda area, the Rescue 1122 officials said. The Rescue 1122 teams responded to the scene shortly after receiving the emergency call and carried out rescue operations. The body was shifted to the District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Bhakkar for legal formalities. The injured were transported to a nearby hospital, they added.

The police registered a case and started investigation.

Faisalabad: The police arrested 21 proclaimed offenders from different parts of Faisalabad on Tuesday.

Police spokesman Tariq Jutt said that the arrests were made during a vigorous district-wide crackdown targeting proclaimed offenders and fugitives involved in serious crimes, including theft, robbery, bogus cheque fraud, cheating and other criminal offences.

The accused were identified Muhammad Asad, Safdar, Shahid Mehmood, Ali Arsalan, Zeeshan, Usman and several others who had been wanted by police in various cases.

Dera ismail khan: The district administration has launched a large-scale crackdown against LPG plants, dealers and retail outlets to ensure compliance with government regulations.

According to the administration, the action was taken on public complaints and the directives of the Deputy Commissioner.

As part of the drive, Assistant Commissioner Dr. Muhammad Hamid Siddique inspected checked LPG plants, dealerships and retail shops to verify adherence to government-fixed prices, examine business records and ensure compliance with mandatory safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

According to the district administration, two LPG plants were found charging prices above the officially notified rates, failing to maintain the required records and violating safety regulations.

Both plants were sealed on the spot, while legal proceedings were initiated against those responsible under the relevant laws.

He also inspected several LPG retail outlets, where a number of shops were found operating without displaying the official price list and selling LPG at inflated rates.

Several shops were sealed, and legal action was taken against the violators.

The operation also targeted illegal LPG refilling into vehicles.

Authorities sealed the illegal refilling points and forwarded recommendations for the registration of FIRs against the individuals involved.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Hamid Siddique said the district administration would not tolerate overcharging, illegal LPG refilling, failure to maintain mandatory records or violations of safety SOPs.

He reiterated that a zero-tolerance policy would continue to be enforced to protect the lives and property of citizens and ensure the availability of LPG at government-approved prices.

He also urged the public to report incidents of overcharging, illegal refilling or any other violations to the district administration so that prompt legal action could be taken.
