Faisalabad: City Police Officer (CPO) Tanveer Hussain honored and appreciated outstanding police officials with awards and commendation certificates for their exceptional performance in community policing and crime prevention.

Police Spokesman Tariq Jutt said that the award distribution ceremony was held at Police Community Engagement Center where the CPO presented commendation certificates and appreciation awards to the officers and personnel who had demonstrated remarkable commitment and professionalism in serving the community.

Among them included Station House Officer (SHO) Gulberg police station Abdul Ghaffar, SHO Batala Colony Zaheer Akhtar, SHO City Jaranwala Muzaffar Ali and other police officials whose teams were recognized for their exemplary contribution to community policing initiatives and effective public engagement.

Addressing the ceremony, the CPO commended the award recipients for performing their duties with

dedication and playing an effective role in safeguarding lives and property of the citizens. The CPO also announced that police officers and personnel delivering exceptional performance in future would continue to be acknowledged and rewarded.

Sukkur: A student from The Begum Nusrat Bhutto Women University has claimed the top national spot in the State Bank of Pakistan Business Idea Competition 2025, bringing recognition to the Sukkur based institution.

Ms. Neha Sohu, a 4th semester BBA student in the Department of Management Sciences and Technology, secured the national winner title with her social innovation project, ‘Healing Boat,’ said a release on Tuesday.

The digital platform aims to support youth emotional well being by offering a safe, anonymous, and multilingual space for users. The State Bank of Pakistan cited the idea’s originality, social relevance, and potential for community impact in its selection.

Ms. Sohu developed the project under the supervision of Dr. Noor Ahmed Brohi, Associate Professor and Chairperson of the Department of Management Sciences and Technology.

The win aligns with the university’s ongoing focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning, championed by Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof. Dr. Tehmina Nangraj.

University officials said the achievement underscores BNBWU’s commitment to empowering students to create sustainable, socially impactful solutions that address contemporary challenges and contribute to national development.

Abbottabad: Commissioner Hazara Division Fayyaz Ali Shah on Tuesday launched the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 by planting a deodar sapling at the Commissioner’s Camp Office in Nathiagali.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony, the commissioner said that tree plantation had become a pressing need in view of the increasing impacts of climate change.

He said planting trees was vital for protecting the environment and ensuring a safer future for the coming generations.

He termed tree plantation a lasting charitable act and urged citizens to actively participate in the campaign.

He said the district administration, Forest Department and other relevant departments would work jointly to make the drive successful, while a special awareness campaign would also be launched to encourage public participation.

Fayyaz Ali Shah stressed that the success of the campaign depended not only on planting saplings but also on their proper care and protection to ensure their survival.

He called upon the public to make the most of the monsoon season by planting more trees and playing their role in building a greener, safer and more prosperous Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Dera ismail khan: The Dera police have arrested seven suspects and seized illegal weapons during search and strike operations conducted across the district as part of an ongoing campaign against criminal elements.

The operations were launched on the directives of District Police Officer (DPO) Ziauddin Ahmed to curb crime and tighten security across the district.

The police teams, supervised by the respective deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), carried out coordinated raids targeting proclaimed offenders, extortionists, thieves, robbers and other suspected criminals.

During the operations, the police searched 45 houses and conducted a search operation in one village. More than 50 motorcycles and vehicles were also checked at various points to monitor suspicious movement and enhance security.

As a result of the crackdown, seven suspects involved in different criminal activities were arrested. The police also recovered two pistols and 10 rounds of ammunition from their possession. The cases have also been registered against the arrested suspects.

DPO Ziauddin Ahmed reaffirmed the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order, preventing crime and ensuring the safety of citizens. He said search and strike operations and snap checking would continue across the district to ensure a secure and peaceful environment for the public.

Rawalpindi: Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir Tuesday directed officials to complete all ongoing beautification and renovation projects across the district within the stipulated timelines and according to high-quality standards.

Presiding over a review meeting, the Deputy Commissioner assessed the progress of beautification schemes currently underway in Raja Bazar, Commercial Market, and various tehsils of Rawalpindi.

The meeting was attended by the Assistant Commissioners (ACs) of all tehsils, Chief Officer District Council, Chief Officer Municipal Corporation, Deputy Director Development, and other relevant departmental officers.

Captain (R) Nadeem Nasir emphasized that upgrading the city’s infrastructure, cleanliness, and aesthetic appeal remains a top priority of the district administration given Rawalpindi’s historical and commercial significance.

He directed all Assistant Commissioners to closely monitor the beautification schemes in their respective jurisdictions, evaluate their pace regularly, and address any bottlenecks immediately to prevent delays.

The DC informed that he would personally visit all tehsils in the coming days to conduct on-site inspections of the ongoing projects to review their quality, progress, and transparency. He instructed the departments concerned to maintain close coordination to ensure the smooth execution of the development work.

Reaffirming the administration’s commitment, the DC stated that all available resources are being utilized to transform Rawalpindi into a clean, green, and modern city in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

Sukkur: Sukkur IBA University successfully held the second phase of its Undergraduate Aptitude Test on Tuesday, with thousands of candidates from across Pakistan appearing at its campuses.

The test was conducted in a transparent and professional manner, underscoring the university’s commitment to merit-based admissions and academic excellence.

To oversee the process, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Shaikh, Pro Vice Chancellor, Main Campus, Prof. Dr. Syed Mir Muhammad Shah, along with pro vice chancellors of regional campuses, deans, department heads, and the Manager Admissions, visited multiple test centers. The officials reviewed arrangements to ensure a fair and conducive environment for all applicants.

University officials said the large turnout reflects growing confidence among students and parents in Sukkur IBA as a leading institution for quality education and opportunity.
