Larkana: On the orders of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kamber-Shahdadkot, Hassan Sardar Ahmed Khan Niazi, operations against drug peddlers and wanted criminals are ongoing on Tuesday. Three suspects, including a drug peddler, have been arrested, hashish recovered, and a case registered against them.

According to police, SHO of Kamber City Police Station, Inspector Ali Hassan Mughairi, along with his staff, during patrol at the Nasirabad checkpoint, arrested drug peddler suspect Ghaffar Gopang and recovered 1,100 grams of hashish from his possession, and a case was registered.

In a second operation, SHO Kamber City Police Station, along with staff, near the Treasury Office, arrested two wanted suspects in a case registered at Kamber City Police Station-Ghulam Nabi Chandio and Hassan Ali Chandio. Further interrogation of the arrested suspects is ongoing.

Muzaffargarh: A fire broke out at the Punjab Social Security Hospital on Tuesday,triggering the evacuation of patients,doctors and hospital staff,officials said.

According to Rescue officials,the blaze erupted in the hospital’s record room.

Firefighters rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the flames using two fire tenders,preventing the fire from spreading to other sections of the facility.

Officials said that the fire destroyed documents and records stored in the room.No casualties or injuries were reported.

Hospital administration officials said an inquiry had been initiated to ascertain the cause of the incident.

They said investigators were examining whether the blaze was accidental or the result of negligence,adding that all aspects of the incident would be thoroughly investigated.

Multan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) extended the deadline for submitting examination fees for students who passed their assignments but failed one or more papers in the final examinations of the Autumn 2025 Semester till July 16.

AIOU has announced examination results of all programmes offered in autumn semester 2025.

Regional Director AIOU Multan, Ghulam Hussain Khosa announced that the original fee submission deadline of July 13 has been extended to July 16, 2026, following requests from students.

He urged all eligible students, including those who have not yet submitted the FRE-I and FRE-II examination fees for any reason, to generate their fee challan through their CMS account and deposit the required examination fee by July 16. Timely submission of the fee will enable them to appear in the Spring 2026 Semester examinations.

Meanwhile, admissions for the Autumn 2026 Semester were currently open. Admission prospectuses could be downloaded from the university’s official website, www.aiou.edu.pk.

Sukkur: Provincial leader of Pakistan Muslim League Functional Sindh, Advocate Syed Shafqat Ali Shah on Tuesday paid rich tribute to the martyrs and veterans of Pakistan’s armed forces, calling them the pride of the entire nation.

In his statement, he said that those who laid down their lives in defense of the homeland deserve the utmost respect and recognition. Martyrs and ghazis who offer the ultimate sacrifice for the defense of the country are the pride of the whole nation, he stated.

He expressed disappointment over any attempt to undermine their contributions. It is unfortunate to consider the sacrifices of martyrs and veterans as trivial, Shah added.

Highlighting the role of the military, the PML-F leader noted that the Pakistan Armed Forces have rendered adding that unparalleled sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, safeguarding borders, and ensuring national security.

Shah stressed that honoring these sacrifices is a collective responsibility. Respecting the sacrifices of Pakistan’s armed forces is the national and moral duty of every Pakistani, he added.

The remarks come amid ongoing national discourse on civil military relations and the recognition of security personnel who have lost their lives in service to the country.

Rawalpindi: A local court on Tuesday sentenced a drug smuggler to nine years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 80,000.0.

The convict, Sher Alam, was found guilty of possessing and smuggling narcotics. According to the prosecution, the Chaklala Police had arrested Alam in January 2023 after recovering 1.2 kilograms of hashish (charas) from his possession.

A spokesperson for the Rawalpindi Police stated that the court handed down the sentence after the prosecution presented solid forensic and circumstantial evidence, demonstrating the department’s dedication to effective policing.

The spokesperson emphasized that the district police are utilizing all available resources and taking strict measures to eradicate the menace of drug trafficking from society.
