Rawalpindi: Commissioner Rawalpindi, Salman Ghani on Tuesday visited Holy Family Hospital (HFH) to review the quality of healthcare services, cleanliness standards, and the implementation of the Chief Minister’s Free Medicine Delivery and Dialysis Programme.

Accompanied by Medical Superintendent HFH, Dr. Ejaz, Assistant Commissioner City, Iman Zafar, Director Health and other senior officials, the Commissioner inspected various wards including the Emergency department, Cath Lab, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), and Outpatient Department (OPD).

He checked the attendance of doctors and paramedical staff, interacted directly with patients to inquire about the availability of free medicines, and evaluated the functionality of medical equipment alongside the general hygiene of restrooms and waiting areas.

The Commissioner directed the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to complete the ongoing sewerage restoration project at the hospital on a priority basis. Acknowledging that the hospital faces an immense patient load due to incoming cases from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and surrounding regions, Ghani emphasized that all operational challenges at HFH would be addressed urgently to minimize public inconvenience.

He further instructed the hospital administration to deploy dedicated guidance staff in the emergency ward to direct patients smoothly and efficiently. Reaffirming the Punjab government’s commitment to providing dignified, high-quality, and accessible healthcare to all citizens, the Commissioner warned that no negligence regarding medicine availability, staff attendance, or medical ethics would be tolerated.

Peshawar: A Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) official was martyred in an improvised explosive device (IED) explosion while attempting to defuse the device in the limits of Hassan Khel Police Station here on Tuesday.

According to police, BDS official Khaista Rehman was neutralizing a suspected IED when it exploded, killing him on the spot.

Following the incident, a heavy police contingent reached the site, cordoned off the area, collected evidence and launched an investigation.

Police officials said investigations are underway to determine the nature of the explosion and identify those responsible for planting the IED. A search operation has also been launched in the surrounding area.

Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry chaired a meeting on Tuesday to review proposed development schemes under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model as part of the Annual Development Programme. According to the spokesperson for the DC office here, the officials from the Horticulture Authority, Highways Department, WASA, District Council, Municipal Corporation, Cattle Market Committee, Health Department and other relevant departments attended the meeting and presented preliminary proposals for feasible development projects.

The deputy commissioner directed all departments to finalise the details of their proposed schemes, including feasibility studies, estimated costs, implementation timelines and other technical requirements, and submit them at the earliest so that viable projects could be forwarded for approval under the Public-Private Partnership framework.

He said that encouraging private sector investment through the PPP model would help accelerate the pace of development and improve the delivery of public welfare projects.

He stressed that priority should be given to projects that provide direct, sustainable and long-term benefits to the public.
