Dera ismail khan: Assistant Commissioner (AC) Dera Ismail Khan on Thursday visited the main Temporary Water Rescue Point (TWRP) established along the Indus River to review rescue preparedness under the district’s Monsoon Emergency Plan.

During the visit, the assistant commissioner met Rescue 1122 personnel and inspected the overall rescue arrangements, safety measures and emergency resources deployed at the site to ensure prompt response during the monsoon season.

He also interacted with local boat owners, examined the safety equipment available on their boats and directed them to strictly ensure the use of life jackets during boating operations. He further instructed them to avoid overloading boats and comply with all safety guidelines issued by the district administration and Rescue 1122 to help prevent accidents.

Officials briefed the visiting officer that Rescue 1122’s water rescue teams remain on round-the-clock alert at temporary water rescue points along the Indus River to safeguard the lives and property of citizens throughout the monsoon season.

The visit formed part of ongoing efforts by the district administration and Rescue 1122 to strengthen emergency preparedness and enhance public safety in flood-prone areas.

Peshawar: President Awami National Party (ANP), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mian Iftikhar Hussain on Thursday strongly condemned the terrorist attack on a police convoy in Lower Dir and the assault on a police station in Bannu, describing the province’s law and order situation as deeply alarming.

Expressing grief over the martyrdom of police personnel and those who sustained injuries, he paid tribute to their services and said that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the police force continue to bear the cost of counterterrorism measures.

Mian Iftikhar voiced concern over the reported presence and recent activities of militant elements in Swat and Dir. He noted that the merged districts and southern parts of the province were already facing severe security challenges.

The ANP leader reiterated that terrorism could not be eliminated through temporary, symbolic, or reactionary measures. He called for a clear, consistent and public trust-based counterterrorism policy, warning that the security situation could deteriorate further if decisive action was not taken.

Chiniot: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ayesha Rizwan paid a surprise visit to District Headquarters Hospital and reviewed the medical facilities, administrative matters, patient services, cleanliness, and overall situation at the hospital.

The DC inspected various wards, the emergency department, OPD, medicine stock, cleanliness arrangements, and other areas. She met with patients under treatment and their relatives to inquire about treatment, availability of medicines, and facilities provided in the hospital.

Ayesha issued necessary instructions on the spot to Medical Superintendent Dr. Muhammad Shaukat regarding further improving cleanliness standards, ensuring timely and quality medical facilities for patients, attendance of doctors and paramedical staff, and uninterrupted availability of medicines.

She said that providing the best medical facilities to the public in government hospitals is the top priority of the district administration, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

“Any negligence, carelessness, or difficulties faced by patients in treatment will not be tolerated,” she added. The DC directed hospital administration to pay special attention to cleanliness, discipline, and patient comfort so that better and dignified medical services can be provided to the public.

Peshawar: Adviser to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Sports and Youth Affairs, Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand has reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to promoting sports and providing modern facilities for young athletes across the province.

Speaking during his visit to Swat, the adviser directed the relevant authorities to ensure that all ongoing sports development projects were completed within the stipulated time frame and in accordance with prescribed quality standards.

He said the provincial government, under the leadership of Chief Minister, Muhammad Sohail Afridi, was taking concrete steps to strengthen sports infrastructure, encourage youth participation in healthy and constructive activities, and create greater opportunities for emerging talent.

Tarand emphasized that timely completion of sports projects would help provide quality facilities to young people and contribute to the overall development of sports in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Bahawalpur: A woman died and a man suffered injuries in a road mishap reported in Dhor Kot area of Ahmadpur East tehsil of the district.

According to the official sources in the Punjab Emergency Service, a man and a woman were travelling on a motorcycle when its tyre suddenly burst, causing the riders to lose control and fall onto the road. ‘The woman sustained a severe head injury and died at the scene,’ they said, adding that rescue personnel shifted her body to her home after completing the necessary procedures.

The man suffered minor injuries and was provided first aid at the scene by Rescue 1122 staff. The deceased was identified as 60-years-old Sahib Bibi. The injured was recognized as 18-years-old Ishfaq. They were residents of Dhor Kot.
