Lahore: Gold prices increased in local and international markets on Saturday. In the international market, gold prices rose by $24 to $4,018 per ounce.
According to the All Pakistan Sarafa Association, the price of 24-carat gold increased by Rs2,400 to Rs424,236 per tola. The price of 10 grams of gold rose by Rs2,057 to Rs363,714, while silver prices increased by Rs41 to Rs6,070 per tola.
It may be recalled that gold prices had witnessed a significant decline in the country on Friday.
Lahore: Lahore Division Commissioner Noman Yousaf on Saturday directed deputy commissioners across the division to intensify price control operations, launch a crackdown on hoarding and ensure strict implementation of notified prices of essential commodities.
Issuing instructions to the administrations of all four districts, the commissioner ordered price magistrates and PERA force personnel to regularly inspect markets and verify that food items were being sold according to officially notified rates.
He also directed the authorities to ensure that notified price lists were prominently displayed at every roadside stall, shop and market. Assistant commissioners, price magistrates and PERA teams were instructed to strengthen monitoring and remain actively present in the field to maintain price stability.
The commissioner said the performance of every price magistrate and PERA official was being reviewed regularly, warning that there would be zero tolerance for negligence. He reiterated that the Punjab government’s policy against profiteering was clear and directed deputy commissioners to devise and implement a coordinated daily price control strategy.
Lahore: As many as 12,202 citizens’ pockets in Lahore were picked in different areas of the city this year.
According to police records, City Division topped the list with 2548 cases of pickpocketing, Model Town Division came second with 2312 incidents of pickpocketing.
Likewise, Saddar Division came third with 2286 cases of pickpocketing, Cantt Division recorded 2174, Iqbal Town Division recorded 1692 cases of pickpocketing. 1190 incidents of pickpocketing were reported in Civil Lines Division this year.
Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution (EOBI) will jointly launch a series of development projects in Islamabad focusing on tourism, entertainment, the hospitality industry and other key sectors, following a high-level decision taken at a special meeting chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
The meeting was attended via video link by Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Salik Hussain, while EOBI Chairman Javed Sheikh, CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa’s successor Chairman Sohail Ashraf, and senior officials from both organisations were also present.
The participants agreed to explore the combined resources and expertise of CDA and EOBI to undertake projects aimed at enhancing Islamabad’s tourism potential, expanding recreational facilities, strengthening the hotel industry and promoting investment in other development sectors.
To accelerate the initiative, CDA and EOBI have been tasked with preparing a comprehensive joint development plan within the next 15 days. The plan will identify priority projects, implementation strategies and investment opportunities.
A follow-up meeting, to be jointly chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Overseas Pakistanis Minister Salik Hussain after the 15-day deadline, will review and finalise the proposed projects for Islamabad.
The meeting decided that once the projects receive final approval from Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the two institutions will formally begin implementation of the joint development initiatives.
The move is being viewed as part of the government’s broader strategy to improve Islamabad’s tourism infrastructure, create new recreational destinations, support the hospitality sector and unlock the commercial potential of public assets through inter-agency collaboration.
Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan will continue to extend its unwavering diplomatic, political and moral support until the people of Jammu and Kashmir are able to exercise their inalienable right to self-determination.
In a message on the occasion of Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Pakistan (Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan Day) 19 July 2026, he said the government and people of Pakistan salute the courage, resilience and steadfastness of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) in their just struggle for the realization of their fundamental rights.
He said, “Youm-e-Ilhaq-e-Pakistan (Kashmir’s Accession to Pakistan Day) is observed annually to commemorate the historic resolution adopted by the All Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference at its Srinagar session on 19 July 1947.”
“The unanimous resolution reflected the collective political aspirations of the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir at a defining moment in the history of the subcontinent. It expressed their desire for the State’s accession to Pakistan and called upon the Dogra rulers to respect the will of the people. The resolution remains an important historical milestone in the political struggle of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he remarked.
He said, “This occasion also serves as a reminder of the enduring bonds that unite the peoples of Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir, founded on shared history, faith, culture, geography and longstanding ties. Above all, it underscores the central importance of respecting the freely expressed will of the Kashmiri people.”
“Pakistan remains steadfast in its principled support for the inalienable right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, as enshrined in the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions. The unresolved Jammu and Kashmir dispute continues to have profound implications for regional peace and security. Lasting peace in South Asia requires its peaceful resolution in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people,” he added.
Islamabad: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday paid tribute to Pakistan’s security forces for foiling a major terrorist plot in Wana through a timely intelligence-based operation, saying the successful action averted a potentially devastating attack on the local population.
In a statement, the minister said the security forces saved Wana and its surrounding areas from possible destruction by acting on credible intelligence before the planned attack could be carried out.
Naqvi said the forces demonstrated exceptional professionalism by destroying an explosives-laden vehicle and a motorcycle before they could be used in the attack, effectively neutralising the threat.
He commended the personnel for their high level of skill and vigilance, saying they ensured the protection of the lives and property of innocent citizens through the successful operation.
The interior minister also saluted the security forces for thwarting the “sinister plan” of a suicide attack in advance through intelligence-based action, describing the operation as a major success against terrorism.
“The brave personnel of the security forces have crushed the enemy’s nefarious designs,” Naqvi said, praising their courage and commitment to safeguarding the country.
