Quetta: A meeting of the District Education Group Quetta was held here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Meherullah Badini, to review educational affairs, revival of non-functional schools, teacher availability, and overall school performance across the district.

The session was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), District Education Officers (male and female), relevant Deputy District Officers (DDOs), RTSM representatives, and other officials.

Officials informed the meeting that out of 150 non-functional schools in the district, 128 have been fully restored, while efforts were underway to activate the remaining schools. Detailed data was also presented regarding institutions facing shortages of teaching staff.

The RTSM presented a monitoring report highlighting that inquiries have been initiated against 35 teachers found to be consistently absent from duty.

Deputy Commissioner, Mehrullah Badini directed that teaching activities in all government schools must be made more effective, teacher attendance ensured, and all available resources utilized to provide quality education to students.

Quetta: Senior Officer of Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) Haji Naseer Lehri met Billing Control Incharge Muhammad Zubair in his office on Tuesday.

During the meeting, various issues related to SSGC billing, provision of better facilities to consumers, institutional affairs and making services more effective were discussed. On this occasion, the commitment to timely redressal of consumer complaints, a transparent billing system and providing best facilities to the public was also reiterated.

Both officers emphasized that resolving consumer issues on a priority basis and further improving the services of the institution are among the top priorities of SSGC.

Quetta: On special directive of Inspector General (IG ) Police Balochistan Muhammad Tahir, SP Ust-e-Muhammad Hafiz Maaz-ur-Rehman organized an open court in Tehsil Masjid Shahi Bazar in order to solve legal issue of public in the area.

A large number of citizens, local dignitaries and traders participated in the open court. On this occasion, Superintendent of Police (SP) Ust-e-Muhammad directly met the public and listened to their problems, complaints and suggestions.

He also issued necessary instructions to the concerned officers on the spot for the immediate redressal of the complaints.

SP Ust-e-Muhammad said that the purpose of the open courts is to strengthen mutual trust between the police and the public, promote community involvement, ensure timely redressal of public complaints and make the policing system more effective.

He assured the citizens that the police would continue to take all possible steps to protect the lives and property of the public and solve their problems.

Quetta: Balochistan Food Authority (BFA) has intensified its campaign against contaminated vegetables irrigated with sewage water, destroying nearly 48 acres of crops in Quetta during a large-scale operation.

According to officials, the crackdown exposed widespread cultivation of toxic vegetables along Arbab Karam Khan Road, where crops of lettuce, spinach, mint, and other leafy greens were being grown with sewage water. These vegetables were destroyed on-site before they could reach local markets.

Food safety teams acted swiftly to block all sewage channels being used for irrigation, ensuring that contaminated produce would not enter the food supply chain. The operation was carried out under the directives of the Director General BFA, who has ordered a phased and intensified crackdown across multiple districts.

‘Vegetables grown with sewage water will never be allowed to reach the public. There will be no compromise on citizens’ health,’ the DG BFA declared.

The authority emphasized that the campaign against hazardous vegetables will continue in a more effective manner, with indiscriminate legal action against violators. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to safe food and a healthy Balochistan, pledging uninterrupted operations until the complete elimination of contaminated produce.

Quetta: District Administration Lasbela on Tuesday started implementing the orders of Home Secretary Balochistan Hamza Shafqat, in view of the law and order situation and security SOPs.

According to details, in this regard, instructions have been issued to the District Police for strict implementation of the Tenancy Act of Residential Houses across the district.

The District Police Lasbela has said that all owners of residential and commercial houses, shops and landlords should immediately register the details of their tenants and farmers online at the Uthal Police Station; otherwise, strict action would be taken according to the law.

The police said that in this regard, the public has been informed through print, electronic and social media in the announcement issued by the District Administration, and notices have been issued. Owners and landlords should register their tenants and farmers working on agricultural lands.

The process of online registration of tenants and farmers’ details at the Uthal Police Station continues 24 hours a day, so citizens should take advantage of this facility and fulfill their legal responsibility.

Implementation of the Tenancy Act is for the protection of the lives and property of the people and it is extremely important to maintain peace and order.

Quetta: The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has warned that lightning and heavy rainfall may damage weak structures such as solar panels, electric poles, and billboards during the forecast period across Balochistan.

According to the Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) Quetta, mainly hot and dry weather is expected in most districts of the province, with very hot conditions prevailing in Nokkundi, Washuk, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Noshki, Pishin, Sibi, Naseerabad, Jhal Magsi, Usta Muhammad, and surrounding areas during next 24 hours.

Partly cloudy weather accompanied by rain-wind and thunderstorms, with a few heavy falls, is likely at isolated places including Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musakhel, Killa Saifullah, Harnai, Dukki, Loralai, Kohlu, Khuzdar, Surab, Kalat, Mastung, Quetta, and adjoining areas. Strong gusty winds are also expected in most parts of the province during the afternoon and evening hours.

In last 24 hours the maximum temperature recorded was 47.5°C in Nokkundi, while the minimum was 31.0°C in Gwadar.

The forecast for the next 48-72 hours indicates continued hot and dry conditions in most districts, with scattered rain-wind and thunderstorms (including heavy falls in some areas) expected in Zhob, Sherani, Barkhan, Musa Khel, Killa Saifullah, Harnai, Ziarat, Duki, Loralai, Kohlu, Dera Bugti, Sibi, Kachi, Khuzdar, Surab, Kalat, Mastung, Quetta, and surrounding regions.

Authorities have advised residents to remain cautious, particularly in areas with vulnerable infrastructure, and to take preventive measures against possible damage from strong winds and heavy rainfall.
