PFA seals 14 food businesses


Lahore: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed 14 food businesses, lodged one FIR and discarded 400kg of substandard food products, 200 liters of adulterated milk, over 80kg of China salt and other unsafe food items during a major crackdown. The enforcement teams of the PFA imposed fines worth Rs1.032 million on 36 food businesses for violating food safety regulations. The operation was carried out under the directions of Director General Punjab Food Authority Raja Mansoor Ahmad.



Food safety team inspected 50 food points and production units across different areas of Lahore. The teams took enforcement action against businesses that failed to comply with previously issued instructions. During the inspections, mandatory water testing reports, medical screening certificates and food safety training certificates were found missing at several premises.



The PFA Director General said that poor sanitation conditions, along with heavy infestations of insects, lizards and cockroaches, were observed at multiple food businesses. He said that open drains, broken flooring, stagnant dirty water and foul odors were found in food processing areas, posing serious risks to public health.



He said that food products carrying unapproved labels and lacking manufacturing and expiry dates were also recovered. Rusted and damaged freezers were being used, while dairy products and meat were stored together in violation of food safety regulations.



He further stated that all food businesses must operate in accordance with the regulations prescribed by the Punjab Food Authority. He appealed to the public to support PFA in eliminating the adulteration mafia and report to the PFA on its 1223 helpline number in case of any complaints.

Motorway Police hand over lost bag worth Rs1m to owner


Lahore: Motorway Police M-3, demonstrating honesty and professional responsibility, handed over a lost bag worth about Rs 1 million to its rightful owner.



According to the Central Region spokesperson, the valuable bag of a citizen going from Lahore to Multan was left in the service area of the bus. The bag contained an iPhone, US$1,200, Rs50,000 in cash, ATM cards and national identity cards.



The Motorway Police, after necessary verification, handed over to it the rightful owner.

Section 144 extended across Punjab, ban on drone flying continues


Lahore: The implementation of Section 144 has been extended across Punjab. The Home Department has also extended the ban on flying outdoor drones under Section 144 by 30 days.



The Punjab government has banned the use of drones in view of security concerns, however, limited use of small drones is allowed during events inside halls and marquees. The responsibility for the safe use of drones in indoor events will lie with the organizers. Intelligence and law enforcement agencies have been exempted from the ban.



The Home Department has formed a ‘Safe Drone Usage Committee’ at the district level to issue written permission for the safe use of drones. The district ‘Safe Drone Usage Committee’ will issue written permission for the safe use of drones for agricultural, irrigation and research purposes.

RPO holds Open Court at City Police Station, orders prompt redress of public complaints


Rawalpindi: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi, Babar Sarfraz Alpa held an open court (Khuli Katchery) at City Police Station and listened to citizens’ complaints and grievances besides directing the relevant officers to take immediate legal action.



Addressing on the occasion, the RPO instructed that all public applications be processed promptly and reports on the action taken be submitted within the prescribed timeframe.



He emphasized that ensuring timely justice and the swift resolution of citizens’ issues remains the top priority of Rawalpindi Region Police.



Babar Sarfraz Alpa said the purpose of holding open courts is to strengthen trust and cooperation between the public and the police.



He warned that negligence or unnecessary delays in addressing public complaints would not be tolerated.



Later, the RPO visited City Police Station and inspected the police station building, front desk, duty officer’s office, and other operational sections.



During the visit, he directed investigating officers to ensure the timely disposal of pending cases and stressed the importance of treating all visitors to the police station with courtesy, professionalism, and respect.

DC reviews developments projects, monsoon arrangements


Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry on Thursday conducted a detailed visit to Bhera and Bhalwal tehsils to review ongoing and completed development projects being executed under the Punjab Development Programme (PDP).



According to a spokesperson, the DC inspected various critical sites of PDP projects in Bhera to evaluate the pace of work, quality standards and adherence to timeliness. He directed the officers concerned to ensure all development schemes are completed within the stipulated time frame, strictly adhering to approved standards and standard operating procedures (SOPs).



He reviewed progress on the Walled City initiatives in Bhera, issuing directives to accelerate the restoration and rehabilitation of the historic Bagwi Mosque, ancient city gates and other heritage structures. He also examined the ongoing project aimed at transforming the historic railway station into a regional tourism and recreational hub.



In light of the recent monsoon rains, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the Mona Drain, directing relevant departments to ensure smooth water discharge and the immediate clearance of accumulated rainwater. He ordered that desilting operations at the drain be accelerated and that relief activities continue unabated in affected areas.



During his visit to Bhalwal, Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry inspected the Salem Drain and instructed the Executive Engineer Irrigation to ensure round-the-clock desilting and continuous monitoring of the water channel.



He also reviewed the completed components of PDP projects in Bhalwal and interacted with shopkeepers and local residents to gather direct feedback on the impact of these development schemes. He instructed the authorities concerned to execute the remaining works with complete transparency, quality assurance, and strict compliance with target deadlines.

02 drug supplier arrested, 11kg drugs recovered


Rawalpindi: Police have conducted a major anti-narcotics operation, arresting two drug traffickers, including a woman and recovered a total of 11 kilograms of drugs from their possession.



According to police spokesperson, the Airport police officers on patrolling duty recovered 10 kilograms of ice from the possession of a male drug supplier, while 1 kilogram of ice was seized from a female suspect during separate operations.



Cases have been registered against both suspects under the relevant provisions of the law, and they have been taken into custody.



During the initial investigation, the suspects allegedly disclosed that they had been supplying narcotics to various parts of the city, including educational institutions.



The suspects will be presented before the court with solid evidence following the completion of the investigation and would be dealt according to law.



City Police Officer CPO Hassan Mushtaq Sukhera commended police teams and said the Rawalpindi Police are taking all necessary measures to eliminate the menace of narcotics and will continue to intensify operations against drug traffickers.
