Peshawar: The Adviser to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Forests, Environment and Climate Change, Pir Musawir Khan, on Saturday visited Balakot and Shogran to review monsoon plantation.

He also oversaw ongoing efforts for forest conservation, afforestation, and development activities.

During the visit, the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Hazara Forest Division, Abrar Ahmad Khan Swati, Sub-Divisional Forest Officer (SDFO) Usman Ali, and field staff of the Forest Department accompanied the adviser.

Discussions focused on strengthening forest protection measures, promoting tree plantation, and ensuring the sustainable conservation of natural resources.

He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Forest Department remains committed to building a greener, safer, and more sustainable future through its continued conservation and environmental initiatives.

The Director Besant Hall Cultural Centre Sobia Ali informed here on Saturday that renowned scholars and musicians will shed light on history, poetry and enduring legacy of these classical Sufi Surs, followed by soulful performances that celeberate the spirit of Sindh.

On this occasion, eminent speakers including Dr. Sher Mehrani, Atta Channhyo, Dr Basharat Lanjwani and Saif Samejo will express their views on the topic while famous Singer Manthar and Soormiyon will also perform on Shah Latif’ Surs.

Sur Ghatu is a chapter (Sur) in the Shah jo Risalo-the master poetic compendium of the Sindhi Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai-dedicated to the lives, struggles, and spiritual symbolism of traditional river and sea fishermen.

Ghatu refers to experienced fishermen or hunters of the waters. Shah Latif uses their daily routines, courage, navigating treacherous currents, and casting nets as a profound metaphor for the spiritual seeker’s journey.

Rawalpindi: Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Broadcasting Barrister, Danyal Chaudhry on Saturday said that the politics of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif revolves around national unity, public service, and democratic values.

In a statement responding to criticism leveled by Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon against the PML-N supremo, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry stated that taking Nawaz Sharif’s remarks out of context was unwarranted.

He emphasized that every address by the PML-N leader reflects the aspirations of the entire nation and that disrespecting any province, city, or region has never been part of his political narrative.

He asserted that PML-N holds the people of Sindh, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and all other regions of the country in equal esteem, adding that mutual respect, tolerance, and national harmony remain the foundational principles of the party.

The Parliamentary Secretary remarked that elements creating political friction constantly attempt to turn every statement into a controversy, whereas Nawaz Sharif has consistently advocated for reconciliation, solidarity, and democratic norms.

Rejecting lectures on respecting the public mandate, he stated that the people of Pakistan have elected Nawaz Sharif as Prime Minister three times, proving that popular mandate is the true cornerstone of democracy. He advised critics of Punjab’s development to look at facts, pointing to PML-N’s past infrastructure, health, and education projects as tangible proof of performance.

Rather than engaging in regional taunts, Barrister Danyal Chaudhry urged political opponents who have lost public trust to focus on their own governance track records. He reaffirmed that PML-N will continue its journey of constructive politics, national cohesion, and public welfare.

Rawalpindi: Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir on Saturday directed all departments to ensure the timely completion of development projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, transparency and public interest.

Chairing a meeting of the District Development Committee, the deputy commissioner reviewed the progress of ongoing development schemes across the district, discussed challenges hindering implementation and assessed measures for their timely completion. Officials from the relevant departments attended the meeting and briefed participants on the status of various projects.

The deputy commissioner said all development schemes must be completed within the stipulated timelines in accordance with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

He stressed that transparency, quality and public welfare should remain the top priorities at every stage of implementation.

He said providing basic public services was the government’s foremost responsibility and warned that unnecessary delays or negligence in the execution of development projects would not be tolerated.

The meeting reviewed ongoing schemes related to roads, healthcare, education, clean drinking water, drainage and other public infrastructure projects.

The deputy commissioner directed the concerned officers to increase the frequency of field visits, ensure continuous monitoring of ongoing works and immediately remove any obstacles affecting project execution to improve the pace of implementation.

Captain (Retd) Nadeem Nasir said the timely and quality completion of development projects would not only improve public services but also contribute significantly to the overall development and urban infrastructure of Rawalpindi district.

He directed all relevant departments to work in close coordination to ensure every project is completed according to the prescribed standards and timelines.

Gujrat: The district administration has established a 24-hour Emergency Control Room to coordinate relief efforts and ensure a swift response to rain-related emergencies during the ongoing monsoon spell, here on Saturday.

The control room was set up on the directives of Deputy Commissioner(DC), Noor-ul-Ain Qureshi, according to official sources. Residents have been advised to contact the relevant authorities in the event of heavy rainfall, urban flooding, rising water levels in rivers and streams, road damage or any other emergency.

The District Emergency Control Room will remain operational round the clock and can be reached at 053-3727487.

The administration also urged citizens to contact Rescue 1122 for rescue and medical emergencies, Police Helpline 15 for law and order-related incidents and the WASA Gujrat Helpline 1334 for complaints related to rainwater drainage and sewerage.

The district administration appealed to the public to exercise caution during adverse weather conditions and cooperate with the concerned departments to help ensure an effective emergency response and public safety.

Peshawar: Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar, successfully conducted the first day of the Computer-Based Centralized Admission Test (KMU-CAT 2026) for admissions to Pharm-D, BS Nursing, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) and Allied Health Sciences undergraduate programs.

For the first time in KMU’s history, the admission test is being conducted through a fully computer-based, paperless examination system, replacing the traditional paper-based format to enhance merit, transparency, efficiency, and convenience.

A total of 18, 152 candidates have registered for KMU-CAT 2026. On the first day, 6, 971 candidates appeared at 23 fully air-conditioned computer-based examination centers across Peshawar, Kohat, Malakand, Swat, Hazara, Chitral, and Upper Dir. Candidates received their results immediately after completing the test.

The successful conduct of the examination marks another milestone in KMU’s commitment to transparent, merit-based admissions.

All arrangements have been finalized for the remaining test sessions on July 26, 2026. Students and their parents appreciated the computer-based testing system, efficient arrangements, and immediate result declaration.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia Ul Haq, SI (Sitara-i-Imtiaz), congratulated the candidates and said that KMU remains committed to promoting merit, transparency, and quality through modern technology.

He added that the successful implementation of the computer-based admission test reflects the University’s commitment to internationally recognized examination standards.
