Peshawar: A fresh spell of rainfall has increased water flows in the Kabul and Indus rivers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with a low-level flood recorded at the confluence of the two rivers at Kund Khairabad and Nowshera.

According to the district administration, inflows into Tarbela Dam have risen due to continuous rainfall, prompting authorities to open the dam’s spillways. The increased discharge has raised water levels at the confluence of the Indus and Kabul rivers.

Officials have warned residents living along riverbanks to remain vigilant and avoid going near the rivers as a precaution against possible flooding.

Meanwhile, rainfall resumed in Peshawar and surrounding areas after a two-day break. Light winds accompanying the rain have brought pleasant weather to the region.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that the current spell of rain is likely to continue until July 29. It has warned of possible landslides, falling rocks and flash floods in vulnerable areas of the Malakand and Hazara divisions due to heavy rainfall.

The PMD said most districts of the province will experience partly cloudy and humid weather. Rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in Chitral, Upper and Lower Dir, Swat, Shangla, Malakand, Buner, Bajaur, and Upper and Lower Kohistan. Similar weather conditions are also forecast for Kolai-Palas, Torghar, Battagram, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Mohmand, Khyber and Kurram.

Heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Malakand and Hazara divisions, while thunderstorms with gusty winds are also likely in Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Kohat, Orakzai, Hangu, Karak, Lakki Marwat, Bannu, Tank and North Waziristan.

Sargodha: The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Sunday destroyed various vegetables cultivated on a one-acre tract of land using sewage water in Chak 127 NB of Tehsil Sillanwali as part of its “From Farm to Plate” safety mission.

According to a PFA spokesperson, a food safety team utilized a tractor to uproot the standing crops of melons, pumpkins, and zucchini, which were being irrigated with contaminated wastewater.

The spokesperson highlighted that the cultivation of any edible crop using sewage water was strictly prohibited throughout the province to safeguard public health and prevent the spread of diseases.

The authority further stated that such crackdown operations were essential to prevent toxic and unhygienic food items from entering the local markets of Sargodha and its surrounding areas.

Citizens have been urged to play their civic role in ensuring food safety by reporting any illegal cultivation practices or unhygienic food setups to the PFA via its dedicated toll-free helpline 1223, the spokesperson added.

Sargodha: The Sargodha police have finalized comprehensive security arrangements for the procession held on the second Sunday of Safar, deploying more than 600 police officers and personnel to ensure its peaceful conduct.

According to a press release issued by the District Police Officer (DPO) office, security personnel were deployed across the city to perform duties along the procession route and provide protection to participants.

The procession started from the residence of the organizer in Block 11 and proceeded along its traditional route before concluding at the Imambargah in Block 7.

The police said strict security measures were adopted for the safety of mourners, with participants being screened through walk-through gates and metal detectors installed at various entry points.

Special contingents of the Elite Force were also deployed to maintain vigilance and provide additional security cover during the event.

The spokesperson added that traffic police personnel were positioned at important intersections to regulate traffic flow and facilitate commuters.

Abbottabad: The Abbottabad district administration intensified inspections of public services and markets under the provincial government’s Good Governance Roadmap, with officials reviewing healthcare facilities and taking action against traders violating official regulations.

On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Abbottabad Sarmad Saleem Akram, Additional Assistant Commissioner-II Muhammad Usama inspected the Type-D Hospital in Havelian, where he reviewed the availability of medicines, staff attendance, cleanliness, and patient care. He also met patients to obtain feedback and directed the hospital administration to ensure uninterrupted quality healthcare services and address all operational shortcomings.

In a separate operation, Additional Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Tariq inspected markets on Murree Road, Gami Adda, Link Road, Mandian, Jinnahabad, and Ilyasi Mosque Road. Hotels, chicken shops, fruit and vegetable vendors, butchers, and bakeries were checked for compliance with official price lists, prescribed weights, and hygiene standards. Heavy fines were imposed on violators, while cases involving serious breaches were referred for legal action through the relevant police stations.

Nawabshah: Science Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Shaheed Benazirabad has officially announced the top position holders of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) Part-II Annual Examinations 2026 for the Science Group, Class X.

The results have been declared provisionally in a notification issued on July 25, 2026.

According to the notification, Ume Fatima, daughter of Ghulam Murtaza Hulio from Fastrack Public School Secondary, Moro, secured first position among girls with 1010 marks and an A1 grade.

The second position was obtained by Mubashira Rao, daughter of Dildar Khan Rajput from Memon Academy Higher Secondary School, Shahdadpur, who scored 1008 marks. Bisma Gul, daughter of Gul Muhammad Bhurgri from Bahria Foundation College, Sanghar, secured third position with 1002 marks.

All the top three female candidates achieved A1 grades.

In the boys’ category, Nawab Ali, son of Riaz Hussain Mari Baloch from Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Deparja, secured first position with 989 marks and an A1 grade. The second position went to Dheeraj Kumar, son of Haresh Kumar Khatri from Government (P) Higher Secondary School, Kandiari, who scored 985 marks.

Muhammad Hamad, son of Muhammad Luqman Qureshi from The Educators Kandiaro Campus, obtained third position with 982 marks.

All three male position holders also achieved A1 grades.

The board stated that the results are provisional and subject to correction in case of any errors or omissions, as per the original record maintained by the board.

Peshawar: Shah Pur Police here on Sunday claimed to have arrested two members of a gang allegedly involved in producing fake arms licenses during a major crackdown on forgery.

According to police, the operation was carried out on the special directives of senior officials under the supervision of the DSP Chamkani Circle.

The SHO of Shah Pur Police Station, along with a police team conducted the raid as part of ongoing efforts against criminal elements.

The arrested suspects were identified as Danish, son of Gul Madar and Zeeshan, son of Umar Dara, residents of Asad Abad Idrima.

During the raid at Danish’s residence in Syed Abad, police recovered a computer system, printer, laptop, hundreds of printed and blank arms license cards, a rifle, two pistols and other equipment allegedly used to prepare forged licenses.

In a separate operation, police also arrested a drug dealer, Ehsanullah, son of Hameedullah and seized 311 grams of crystal meth (Ice) from his possession, with an estimated street value of thousands of Pakistani rupees.

Police said cases have been registered against the suspects on charges of forgery, fraud and drug-related offences, while further investigations are underway.
