CRPD delegation visits SCCI for future collaboration


Sialkot: A delegation from the Council on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) visited the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) here on Wednesday to discuss avenues for future collaboration, to enhance workforce diversity, encourage industry participation, and create meaningful employment opportunities for skilled persons with disabilities across Sialkot’s export-oriented industries.



The delegation, led by Director CRPD Muzammil Yar ,included Director Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Gujranwala Division,Irshad Waheed, and Deputy Director, Social Welfare and Bait-ul-Maal, Sialkot, Sharif Ghumman.



During the meeting with SCCI President Syed Ahtesham Mazhar, the CRPD delegation briefed the Council’s mandate, ongoing initiatives, and its efforts to promote the socio-economic empowerment of persons with disabilities through sustainable employment opportunities.



The delegation also presented a collaborative framework aimed at facilitating the placement of skilled persons with disabilities in Sialkot’s industrial sector by fostering stronger linkages between employers and the Council.



President SCCI appreciated the initiatives of the CRPD and reaffirmed the Chamber’s commitment to supporting inclusive employment practices.

No critical flood situation in Multan region


Multan: The irrigation department finalized all arrangements regarding flood as no critical flood situation in Multan Zone as currently river Chenab at Trimmu and Ravi at Sidhnai are in low flood phase. According to the irrigation department official sources, the implementation on flood fighting plan was being ensured in Multan zone. The flood control room was fully functional round-the-clock to monitor the flood like situation. The total length of safety embankments across the zone was 357 miles and inspection of all safety embankments has been completed by all relevant authorities.



The overall condition of the safety embankments was satisfactory. The repairing work on infrastructure which had damaged due to previous flood also been completed. The work on two safety embankments including Noraja Bhutta and Jalalpur Pir Wala had been completed on record two months short time period on war footing basis. The sources further said that the current situation regarding flood was stable as less rains predicted in upper catchment areas while the water level situation into the dams was also normal.



The citizens were advised not to pay attention to rumors regarding flood like emergency.

Motorway Police advise motorists to avoid unnecessary travel during monsoon rains


Islamabad: The National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP) on Wednesday urged motorists and tourists to adopt precautionary measures while travelling during the ongoing monsoon season, warning of hazardous road conditions caused by heavy rainfall.



According to an NHMP spokesperson, travellers have been advised to avoid unnecessary journeys during rain, as slippery roads and reduced visibility could increase the risk of traffic accidents on motorways and national highways.



The spokesperson advised motorists to drive at reduced speeds, maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and use headlights whenever necessary during rainfall.



The NHMP also cautioned travellers against visiting hilly areas unnecessarily due to the risk of landslides and falling rocks, while urging the public not to cross flooded streams and rainwater channels.



Tourists planning to visit northern areas were advised to check the latest weather forecast and road conditions before departure.



The spokesperson further urged drivers to avoid using mobile phones while driving and to remain fully attentive to the road.



Motorists were advised to obtain updated information about motorway and national highway conditions before travelling and to contact the NHMP Helpline 130 or the official social media handle @NHMPOfficial for guidance and assistance.

KP Govt decides crackdown on unregistered private schools


Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to launch a crackdown against unregistered private schools and directed all educational boards in the province to initiate the process of cancelling affiliations of such institutions.



According to an official letter issued in this regard, unregistered private educational institutions have been directed to immediately complete their registration with the relevant regulatory authority.



The government warned that private schools failing to obtain registration within the stipulated period would face cancellation of their affiliations along with legal action.



The unregistered schools have been given a final opportunity to fulfil all legal requirements and complete the registration process within the notified deadline.

Ahmad Raza Sarwar Appointed Interior Secretary as Khurram Agha Directed to Report to Establishment Division


Islamabad: In a significant bureaucratic reshuffle, the federal government on Wednesday appointed BS-22 Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) officer Ahmad Raza Sarwar as Secretary, Interior and Narcotics Control Division, replacing Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Agha, who has been directed to report to the Establishment Division with immediate effect.



Separate notifications issued by the Establishment Division stated that Mr. Sarwar, who was serving under the Government of Punjab, has been transferred and posted as Secretary, Interior and Narcotics Control Division, with immediate effect and until further orders.



In a corresponding notification, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Agha, also a BS-22 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service and serving as Secretary, Interior and Narcotics Control Division, was transferred and directed to report to the Establishment Division, also with immediate effect and until further orders.



Both notifications, issued from the Cabinet Secretariat’s Establishment Division in Islamabad on July 29, were signed by Deputy Secretary Mahmood-ul Hassan and are scheduled to be published in the next issue of the Weekly Gazette of Pakistan (Part-I).



The transfer marks a change in the top administrative leadership of the Interior and Narcotics Control Division, with Ahmad Raza Sarwar assuming charge of one of the country’s most important federal ministries responsible for internal security, law and order coordination, immigration, and narcotics control. The outgoing secretary, Capt. (Retd.) Muhammad Khurram Agha, has been asked to report to the Establishment Division pending further orders.

542 farmers receive agri land allotment certificates


Sargodha: As many as 542 successful landless farmers in Sargodha received agricultural land allotment certificates on Wednesday under the Punjab Government’s “Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar” programme to empower landless cultivators and promote rural prosperity.



The ceremony was held at the Arts Council, Sargodha, with Senior Member Board of Revenue Nabeel Javed as the chief guest.



Commissioner Hafiz Shaukat Ali, Deputy Commissioner Hussain Ahmad Raza Chaudhry, Director General Katchi Abadis Muhammad Shahid, Members of the Provincial Assembly Sardar Asim Sher Maken, Rana Munawar Ghaus, Assistant Commissioners and a large number of successful applicants attended the event.



Addressing the ceremony, Senior Member Board of Revenue Nabeel Javed described the initiative as a historic and transformative step aimed at making landless farmers economically self-reliant by providing them with state-owned agricultural land.



He said the entire selection process had been conducted with complete transparency through digital scrutiny, merit-based evaluation and a transparent balloting process to ensure that only deserving beneficiaries were selected.



He added that the programme had now entered its implementation phase, with thousands of acres of government land, particularly in Cholistan, being distributed fairly among deserving families.



Nabeel Javed said the beneficiaries would not only receive agricultural land but would also be provided technical and agricultural assistance to help them establish sustainable livelihoods.
