Hyderabad: The Hyderabad SITE Association of Trade and Industry (HSATI) has requested the Sindh Government to take immediate actions to restore infrastructure in the site area which has been battered by monsoon rains.
In a statement issued here on Monday, the association’s chairman Zubair Ghanghra and Senior Vice Chairman Amir Shahab, said the heavy rains flooded roads and several factories, bringing industrial work to a standstill.
They deplored that their repeated requests over the years to the provincial government to improve drainage and road infrastructure in the site area remained unheard, resulting in continuous degradation of the area.
They also lamented that the electric supply remained suspended in the site area for around 24 hours after the recent downpour.
The association’s office bearers said they contributed billions of rupees in taxes besides providing employment to tens of thousands of people but the infrastructure which they required to sustain industrial production remained missing.
They urged the Sindh Government to immediately drain the rainwater, repair damaged roads, restore electricity, and improve the drainage system so that industries could resume normal operations and avoid further losses.
