Lahore: Twenty one people were killed and 1,229 others injured in 1,074 road accidents in Punjab during the last 24 hours, according to a report, issued by the Rescue-1122, here on Tuesday. As many as 501 people with serious injuries were shifted to different hospitals, while 728 with minor injuries were treated at the incident site by the rescue medical teams.
The data analysis showed that 710 drivers, 49 underage drivers, 153 pedestrians and 387 passengers were among the victims of road crashes. The statistics showed that 187 accidents were reported in Lahore, which affected 217 people, placing the provincial capital at top of the list, followed by Multan with 90 accidents and 103 victims, and at third Faisalabad with 74 accidents and 84 victims.
According to the data, 1,094 motorcycles, 71 rickshaws, 140 cars, 29 vans, 11 passenger buses, 39 trucks and 144 other types of vehicles and slow-moving carts were involved in the accidents.
