Bahawalpur: Punjab Minister for Communication and Works Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth chaired an important meeting to review the performance of roads and buildings under the Communication and Works (C and W) South Secretariat.
Additional Secretary Aftab Pirzada, Chief Engineer Highway South, Chief Engineer Buildings North, and Executive Engineers (XENs) attended the meeting. The provincial minister was briefed on various road and building projects being executed across South Punjab.
Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharth directed the authorities to take further measures to strengthen the South Punjab Secretariat and improve its operational capacity. He also directed officials to revise the standard operating procedures (SOPs) and job descriptions (JDs) of officers and employees working in the Highway and Buildings wings and to assess their performance against defined standards. He said 690 roads had been included in the Local Road Programme for South Punjab, of which 645 had already been completed. He said the remaining 45 roads would be completed by October 10. The minister said equal opportunities were being provided for infrastructure development across South Punjab. He added that improved infrastructure would contribute to raising the standard of living of the people and provide them with better and safer travelling facilities.
