Bahawalpur: A joint meeting of the Accident Review Committee, Axle Load Management Committee, and Regional Transport Authority was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza. The meeting reviewed road safety conditions in the district, improvement of the traffic system, and measures to prevent traffic accidents in detail. The session was attended by District Police Officer Bahawalpur Rana Abdul Wahab, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) and Secretary Regional Transport Authority Bahawalpur Muhammad Tayyab, District Emergency Officer Rescue 1122 Baqar Hussain, and officers from other relevant departments. Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Syed Hassan Raza stated that the Punjab government is taking serious and effective measures to ensure road safety and prevent all types of traffic accidents.
He emphasized that vehicle fitness, installation of reflectors, clearance through the Vehicle Inspection and Certification System (VICS), and strict avoidance of overloading beyond the prescribed axle load are key factors in reducing road accidents.
The Deputy Commissioner made it clear that a significant reduction in accidents is only possible through improvement of the transport system in strict accordance with the directives of the Punjab government, and implementation in this regard has already begun.
