Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir will observe Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 5 and Black Day on January 26 against India’s unlawful rule in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), with preparations reviewed at a meeting of the state-run National Events Organising Committee, officials said on Wednesday.
The meeting, held in the state metropolis under the chairmanship of Senior Minister and Chairman National Events Committee Mian Abdul Waheed, assessed arrangements to ensure both occasions are marked in a befitting manner across AJK. The session was attended by Minister for Higher Education Zafar Iqbal Malik, senior secretaries, and other officials from relevant departments, AJK government sources told reporter.
It was decided that a one-minute silence will be observed at 10:00 am on Kashmir Solidarity Day, marked by the sounding of sirens. The committee also approved a special signature campaign at all district headquarters, along with seminars and awareness sessions in universities and educational institutions. Additionally, sports competitions will be organized to highlight solidarity with the Kashmiri people.
Addressing the meeting, Mian Abdul Waheed said Kashmir Solidarity Day would be celebrated with full national spirit, emphasizing that the bond between Pakistan and Kashmir is unbreakable and invincible. He directed all departments to complete preparations on time and declared January 26 as a Black Day for Kashmiris, noting that demonstrations would be held worldwide to protest India’s unconstitutional, illegal, and immoral occupation and ongoing human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
