Rawalpindi: The APNA Foundation, operating under the Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APNA), formally inaugurated a state-of-the-art Maternal and Child Health Clinic in Chakwal on Monday, marking a significant milestone in healthcare development in the region.
Dr Hamira Qamar, President of APNA, attended the ceremony as chief guest, alongside a large gathering of distinguished professors, medical practitioners and prominent social figures from across Pakistan.
Addressing the event, Professor Jameel Akhtar, Secretary of the APNA Foundation, said the primary aim of the clinic was to provide quality and timely healthcare services to women and children in Chakwal and surrounding areas.
He emphasised that the Foundation was committed to philanthropic initiatives in the health sector and expressed confidence that the facility would significantly improve maternal and child health outcomes.
Later, the APNA Foundation hosted a formal dinner in honour of the guests, which was attended by former Punjab Minister for Health Dr Jamal Nasir, APNA President Professor Rao Babar, Vice Chancellor of Rawalpindi Medical University Professor Muhammad Umar, Chairman Khidmat Foundation Professor Mumtaz Hafeezur Rehman, and other notable figures.
During the dinner, speakers paid tribute to the professional excellence and philanthropic services of the newly elected APNA President Professor Rao Babar, expressing hope that he would continue to strengthen Pakistan’s healthcare system.
They highlighted that the APNA Foundation, comprising Pakistani doctors based abroad, had been actively serving the country through initiatives in healthcare, education and social welfare.
They described the establishment of the Maternal and Child Health Clinic in Chakwal as a further demonstration of the Foundation’s enduring commitment to public service and national development.
