Islamabad:Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik on Saturday welcomed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decision to postpone its march, saying the party should focus on serious engagement and demonstrate a constructive approach to talks.
Talking to a private TV channel, he highlighted the disparity in the party regarding negotiations before the march postponement decision, saying that the PTI chairman had repeatedly claimed that backdoor negotiations were being held with the government but had yielded no results, as no one was willing to take responsibility for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister and his provincial cabinet, who, he said, were opposed to negotiations.
He added that the government had offered negotiations to PTI to help resolve political differences. ‘Dialogue is the option to address political issues,’ he said.
Responding to a question, the minister of state said preventive measures would remain in place, as PTI members had claimed that they had several plans.
He also criticised the KP chief minister over poor governance, adding that the people of the province were suffering as a result.
He underscored some issues regarding security matters and called the CM incompetent and showing a non-cooperative attitude, who always focused on other issues instead of managing the province’s affairs and working for the development of the province.
