Rawalpindi:The Special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Rawalpindi dismissed terrorism charges against 10 accused in the Sidra Arab murder case, rejected the prosecution’s plea to cancel their bail, and ordered the transfer of the case to the Sessions Court for regular trial proceedings.

Delivering the reserved judgment in the presence of all 10 accused named Ajmal Khan, Zia-ur-Rehman, Khayal Muhammad, Muhammad Suhail, Abdul Salam, Sanaullah, Arab Gul, Gul Badshah, Amir Khan and Sikandar, the court ruled that the case did not fall within the legal ambit of the Anti-Terrorism Act.

The deceased, Sidra Arab, was allegedly murdered in an honor killing executed on the orders of a tribal jirga, after which the suspects buried the body and attempted to destroy evidence of the grave. The murder case also names the victim’s father, brother, uncle and other relatives.
