Auqaf Department employee held red handed while taking bribe

Multan: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Multan Region arrested the Auqaf Department employee red-handed while receiving a bribe of Rs40,000 during a trap raid on Wednesday.



The operation was conducted under the supervision of Regional Director ACE Multan Basharat Nabi, on the directions of ACE Punjab Director General Sohail Zafar Chattha. A team led by Circle Officer ACE Multan Mukhtar Hussain carried out the raid under the supervision of a judicial magistrate.



The arrested employee, identified as Javed of the Auqaf department, was receiving Rs40,000 when the ACE team caught him red-handed. The marked currency notes were recovered from his possession and taken into custody in accordance with the law.



According to the complaint filed by Muhammad Ramzan, son of Ghulam Shabbir, the suspect had already received Rs60,000 from him on the pretext of securing him a job. The complainant alleged that the suspect was demanding further money on the same pretext when the trap raid was conducted.



A case was registered against the accused while further investigations underway.
