Islamabad: Indus River System Authority (IRSA) on Sunday released 34,000 cusecs of water from various rim stations with an inflow of 39,400 cusecs.

According to the data released by IRSA, the water level in River Indus at Tarbela Dam was 1477.84 feet and was 78.84 feet higher than its dead level of 1,398 feet. Water inflow and outflow in the dam was recorded as 14,100 cusecs and 15,000 cusecs, respectively.

The water level in River Jhelum at Mangla Dam was 1136.00 feet, which was 86.00 feet higher than its dead level of 1,050 feet. The inflow and outflow of water was recorded 5,900 cusecs and 100 cusecs respectively.

The release of water at Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu and Sukkur was recorded as 24,600, 22,900, 3,500 and 44500 cusecs respectively. Similarly, from River Kabul, a total of 14,000 cusecs of water were released at Nowshera and 4,900 cusecs were released from River Chenab at Marala.

Islamabad: Deputy Chairman Senate Syedaal Khan on Sunday emphasized the importance of setting aside political differences to ensure Pakistan's economic and social progress.

Islamabad: Deputy Director Operations (DDO) of Islamabad Food Authority (IFA) Dr. Tahira Saddique led by a food safety teams (FSTs) has conducted inspections at Japan Road, Jagiote, and Taramari Chowk, targeting meat shops violating hygiene standards.

A comprehensive inspection of 25 meat shops revealed serious lapses in hygiene and sanitation. Fourteen shops were fined a total of Rs 0.27 million for poor arrangements, while correctional notices were issued to 11 others for further improvements.

Furthermore, over 40 kg of meat was confiscated due to unhygienic conditions.

Dr Tahira Saddique highlighted that several shops were found with unhygienic meat grinders and unsanitary conditions. Pests and other issues were also observed, making the environment unsuitable for food handling.

Violations of previous guidelines and hygiene standards were a common issue, she added.

Dr. Tahira Saddique emphasized that the consumption of such meat poses significant health risks to consumers.

In addition to imposing fines, the authority is working on measures to align all stages of food production with international standards. 'We are continuously inspecting food outlets to eliminate risks to public health,' Dr. Siddiq added.

The Islamabad Food Authority reiterated its commitment to ensuring food safety and maintaining strict checks on food points across the Federal Capital.
