Bhutto’s 97th birth anniversary on 5th

Sargodha: The Pakistan Peoples Party will commemorate the 97th birth anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto with great zeal and respect across the country.

Various events will be held nationwide to honour the founder of the PPP and his unparalleled contributions to the country's democracy and development. He served as the fourth president of Pakistan from 1971 to 1973 and later as the ninth prime minister of Pakistan from 1973 to 1977. Talking to reporter, PPP leader Mateen Ahmed Qureshi said that the main event would take place on January 5 at Chak No. 72, SB Moazzamabad Road, in which former Federal Minister of State Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi would participate as the chief guest. Ceremonies featuring cake-cutting and tributes to Bhutto's legacy would be organized across all tehsils of the district. Former State Minister Tasneem Ahmed Qureshi said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto for his immense sacrifices for the nation's progress, stability, and democratic continuity. "Today's democracy in Pakistan owes its roots to the relentless efforts of the PPP's founder," he added.

Health minister announces modern treatment facilities at Mayo Cancer Care Hospital


Lahore: Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique has pledged to provide state-of-the-art treatment and care facilities to cancer patients at the Mayo Cancer Care Hospital Manawan.



The minister expressed these views during a visit to the hospital, affiliated with King Edward Medical University, on Saturday. He reviewed ongoing construction work and assessed the medical facilities available for cancer patients.



Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique stated that the Mayo Cancer Care Hospital Manawan is a dedicated government facility for cancer treatment and care in Punjab. He praised the hospital staff, calling them hardworking and professional, and announced steps to extend their contracts. He further highlighted that senior faculty at the hospital is actively providing services to patients.



‘In the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, we are committed to delivering the best health facilities to the people,’ the minister said. He directed the Communication and Works (CandW) Department to expedite the hospital’s revamping process to ensure timely completion.



During his visit, the minister toured various sections of the hospital, including the slip counter, facility desk, cancer emergency ward, chemotherapy clinic, pharmacy, lab, oncology outpatient department, surgical oncology clinic, and nursing counters. He also reviewed the progress of the ongoing revamping project in detail.



Professor Waseem Hayat Khan, CEO of Mayo Cancer Care Hospital Manawan, briefed the minister about the hospital’s operations and the treatment provided to patients. Other notable attendees included Parliamentary Secretary Rushda Lodhi, Vice Chancellor of King Edward Medical University Professor Mahmood Ayaz, and senior medical professionals, including Professor Abrar Ashraf, Professor Abbas Khokhar, Dr. Zainab Zubair, Dr. Zeeshan Khan Niazi, and others.



DC injured in firing on Gov’t vehicles in Kurram

Islamabad: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Javedullah Mehsood was injured in the firing on a convoy of government vehicles in Bagan Bazaar of Kurram district on Saturday.

According to a private news channel, the incident happened when the first convoy left after many days to restore the movement of people between Kurram.

When the convoy left and reached Irfan Kali in Alizai tehsil, the convoy was fired upon, in which DC Kurram Javedullah and a security official were reported to have been injured.

The DC has been shifted to the Alizai government hospital in an injured condition.

IUB student honoured

Bahawalpur: A student of Islamia University Bahawalpur (IUB) was honoured with "Youth Icon Award" on her role in efforts for youth empowerment.

According to an official press release, Nimra Mahmood, a student of Islamia University Bahawalpur, has been awarded Youth Icon Award. The award was given away to her by the Youth Parliament Summitt.

Nimra was assigned the task by the varisty to work for the IUB Character Building Society. She as President, IUB Character Building Society, worked on project 'Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Dr. Adnan Bukhari, Adviser to IUB Character Building Society. appreciated Nimra for playing a pivotal role in running a campaign for youth empowerment.

WCLA hosts musical event Drum Circle


Lahore: The Walled City of Lahore Authority (WCLA) held its much-anticipated monthly musical event, the Drum Circle, at the historic Shalimar Garden, here on Saturday.

PML-N believes in economic agenda: Ahsan Iqbal

Lahore: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has said that the PML-N government believes in economic agenda and did not want any sort of political disruption in the country.

He said this while addressing a degree show, Master of Visual Art, at National College of Arts here. He said that the government was taking all possible measures within the limit of Constitution and law to keep the things moving in the right direction.

Ahsan Iqbal said that the government was making sincere efforts, adding that reasonable dialogue from both sides always yields positive results.

He said that the country was facing new war of terrorism and added that in the apex committee's meeting

the political, military leadership and chief ministers of all provinces expressed resolve that there would be zero tolerance against terrorism and terrorists.

He said that with the grace of Allah Almighty, terrorism would be eliminated from the country the same way it was rooted out in the past.

To a question he said that the government of Pakistan had always conveyed it to the government of Afghanistan through dialogue that it should stop Afghan land to be used for terrorism in Pakistan.

He said that the Pakistani people had made numerous sacrifices for the people of Afghanistan and were facing consequences till today. He hoped that Afghanistan would take notice and not allow any group to use Afghan land for carrying out terrorism in Pakistan.

To another question, he said that the government was focusing on expanding skill training programmes, adding that a hefty amount of Rs 20 billion had been given to the ministry of education and national vocational and technical training commission, so that development programmes could be expanded besides ensuring international certification.

He said without international certification it was difficult to place human resources in other countries.

He said that the 'Uraan Pakistan' programme would yield positive results. Ahsan Iqbal said, "It is a high time to move with unity and diversity for achieving desired results."

He said that young generation was the future of the country and now entire focus should be on celebrating the country's 100 years in a most befitting manner. He further said that a successful country's had always established peace, ensured political stability, continuity of policies and adopted reforms.

In 77 years, Pakistan tried multiple times to take off but unfortunately did not achieve desired results, he added.

He said that the country's economic indicators were moving in the right direction and collective efforts were necessary to make it a $3 trillion economy by 2047. It is very unfortunate that wrong impression of Pakistanis is being highlighted, he said and added that the world considers Pakistanis as hard working and intelligent people.

He further said that there was a need to respect other opinions and not to misguide people. He said, "Democracy is not about making people fight with each other."

It is high time to channelize positive energies of youngsters and now entire focus should be on an economic 'long march.' He appreciated the National College of Arts for providing talented human resource in the country's creative industry.
