JKNF calls for UN action on Kashmir Resolution of 1949

Islamabad: The Jammu and Kashmir National Front (JKNF) has called the UN-proposed road map the most viable solution to the Kashmir dispute, urging the United Nations to implement the January 5, 1949 resolution, which emphasizes resolving the issue through the right to self-determination.

In a statement issued here on the eve of Right to Self-Determination Day, JKNF spokesperson Muhammad Haseeb Wani said that India's belligerent military occupation and its policy of deceit, deception serve as stumbling block in the way of peaceful settlement to the long-running conflict.

Referring to the devastating effects of the dispute on Kashmiri society, the JKNF spokesman said, "Now is the time for the UN to take effective cognizance of the India's brutal occupation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir and its devastating impacts and play its due role in the implementation of the historic resolution, which guarantees right to self-determination to the people of Kashmir'.

Given the extremely volatile situation in the restive region, Wani said that it was imperative that the global community should exert pressure on the government of India to resolve the dispute peacefully.

Reiterating his party's stand on the Kashmir dispute, he said, 'Allowing the people of Jammu and Kashmir to decide their future through a free, fair and impartial referendum under the auspices of the United Nations was the only way to resolve the issue peacefully'.

Mahfil, Naz theater sealed over SOPs violations

Lahore: In response to violations of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), the district administration of Lahore has sealed two theaters in Lahore: Mahfil Theater and Naz Theater. Acting on the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syed Musa Raza, the operation was carried out by Assistant Commissioner HR and Coordination Adnan Bashir Waraich who took swift action against the establishments for failing to comply with the regulations. Both Mahfil Theater and Naz Theater had previously been issued multiple notices and warnings for their failure to adhere to the required SOPs. Despite these warnings, the theaters continued operations without a proper license and in violation of the Drama Act, leading to their closure. According to Assistant Commissioner Adnan Bashir the theaters were operating without a valid license, further compounding the violations. The closure is a direct result of non-compliance with the legal and safety requirements outlined in the Drama Act. The authorities are determined to enforce these regulations strictly to ensure public safety and the proper functioning of entertainment establishments. DC Syed Musa Raza emphasized that violations of SOPs, especially those related to public health and safety, will not be tolerated under any circumstances. He said that the administration is committed to maintaining law and order and ensuring businesses follow regulations to protect public and private interests.

Woman killed for resisting robbery in Bahawalpur


Islamabad: A woman was shot dead near Lala Dera after resisting a robbery on Saturday in Bahawalpur.



According to a private news channel, the robbers snatched cash and a mobile phone from the woman and her brother.



When the brother resisted, the robbers opened fire and killed the woman.



Rescue officials shifted the women to the hospital.



Police stated that the victim’s family has been contacted, and an investigation into the case was underway.

CM’s Special Assistant inspect wheat warehouses before onset of procurement season


Hyderabad: The Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister Abdul Jabbar Khan has said protecting the Food Department from corruption is the government’s top priority besides encouraging the dutiful, clean and competent officers to perform.



While visiting a warehouse of wheat here on Saturday, Khan said the officials would ensure that gunny bags were supplied equitably to farmers in the next harvest season in addition to efforts to ensure adequate wheat storage.



He said that the Sindh government was already taking active measures to immediately remove the shortfall of gunny sacks and to stock ample quantities of the sacks for the upcoming wheat season.



Khan expressed his determination and said that in the next harvest not only they would save wheat from being wasted, but would also prevent financial losses to the government.



He told that he was inspecting various godowns to check the preparedness of the facilities to stock huge quantities of wheat supplies.



He warned the officials that any kind of complaints or negligence would not be tolerated.



The Special Assistant also heard complaints of the employees and assured of quick redressal.

House servant killed due to alleged violence in Lahore

Islamabad: A boy working as a house servant in Lahore's Ghalib Market area was killed due to alleged violence.

According to a private news channel and police, the victim, identified as Sunni, worked at the residence of Sajid, a citizen of Main Market.

According to police, the child's body bore signs of violence, including injuries to sensitive areas.

Two suspects have been arrested, and a case has been registered on the statement of the victim's father at the Ghalib Market police station.

Balochistan ex-minister Abdul Khaliq Hazara injured in attack, accused arrested

Quetta: Former Balochistan Minister and Chairman of Hazara Democratic Party Abdul Khaliq Hazara was injured in an attack at his house.

Balochistan's Chief Minister, Mir Sarfraz Bugti took notice of the attack on Abdul Khaliq Hazara and sought a detailed report on the attack. The police has been arrested the suspect who attacked Abdul Khaliq Hazara.

Police said the suspect who attacked Abdul Khaliq Hazara turned out to be his neighbour.

The incident occurred on the midnight in the Marri Abad area of Quetta, where a dacoit climbed the wall of Abdul Khaliq Hazara's house and entered in the house.

During a scuffle, the robber struck Abdul Khaliq Hazara with an instrument and he received injuries during the attempt of robbery at his house.

According to the police, the injured was immediately shifted to Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Hospital, but his condition was no longer critical. After receiving initial medical treatment, he was moved back to his residence.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, took notice of the attack on the former provincial minister and sought a report from the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan. Spokesperson of Balochistan government, Shahid Rind, contacted the family of Abdul Khaliq Hazara to inquire about the incident, and on behalf of the Chief Minister, he conveyed his well-wishes for Abdul Khaliq's recovery.

Shahid Rind said that the police have arrested the accused involved in the attack on Abdul Khaliq Hazara. DIG Police Aitzaz Ahmed Goraya confirmed that investigation is under underway, and efforts are being taken to find out the motive behind the attack and to ensure justice is served.

The spokesperson of the Balochistan government, Shahid Rind, wished Abdul Khaliq Hazara a speedy recovery and extended his best wishes.

Later, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti contacted the former Provincial Minister Abdul Khaliq Hazara and inquired about his health.

The Chief Minister discussed the incident with former provincial minister Abdul Khaliq Hazara and said that police is investigating the incident from all aspects.

Sarfraz prayed for the speedy recovery of Abdul Khaliq Hazara.
