Illegal commercial properties sealed


Faisalabad: The tehsil administration sealed illegal commercial properties in Bunglow chowk, Tandlianwala on Thursday.



Assistant Commissioner Azka Saher with her team sealed the shops and warned the property owners to get their shops commercialized according to the building bylaws otherwise ready to face legal action.



Later, the Assistant Commissioner visited the center set up in the tehsil for distribution of financial aid among deserving families under Benazir Income Support Programme and checked the arrangements there.



She directed for ensuring sitting arrangements for women and speedy departmental service.



She also talked with women and inquired about payment of installments.

Ahsan stresses need for a clear roadmap to drive Pakistan’s development


Islamabad:: Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal on Thursday highlighted the importance of a comprehensive roadmap to ensure Pakistan achieves sustainable development.



Speaking to a private news channel, he reflected on the country’s past efforts and outlined the way forward under the new vision of progress.



He emphasized that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had introduced Vision 2020-25 in 2013, a strategic plan aimed at placing Pakistan among the top 25 global economies by 2025.



The progress we made was disrupted in 2018,’ he said while adding that the incoming government buried our development vision, abandoned our policies, and didn’t introduce any alternative plan.



“That was like a non-planned period for Pakistan’s economic development,” he added.



Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched ‘Uraan Pakistan,’ a homegrown five-year national economic transformation plan.



‘This plan is aimed at steering the country toward sustainable growth from the macroeconomic stability,’ he added.



He said that “Uraan Pakistan” aims to place Pakistan on the path of sustainable high growth, moving towards a stronger and more prosperous future.

PSCA introduces virtual blood bank facility

Lahore: Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA) has introduced a virtual blood bank facility on Punjab Emergency Helpline 15 on a trial basis. According to PSCA spokesman, the Safe City Emergency Virtual Blood Bank had been established under the special direction of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Citizens could easily access the Safe City Emergency Blood Bank by calling 15 and pressing 4. Upon receiving the call, a Safe City officer would connect the caller with a registered donor from the blood bank database via a conference call. Blood donor agencies, NGOs and blood banks of colleges and universities have been linked to the Safe City Blood Bank database. Citizens, students, and members of civil society could register themselves as blood donors by calling 15 or through the safe city website. Additionally, citizens could submit blood donation or request forms at the police facilitation counters set up in all government hospitals. They could also register themselves and request blood dona tions through the emergency helpline 15. Initially, officers and personnel of the Punjab police were getting registered themselves as donors. Over 10,000 personnel have registered blood donors in the Safe City Blood Bank. All citizens were urged to actively participate in the noble cause and donate blood to save lives and stay healthy.

RPO reviews security arrangements at Shorkot police station

Dera ismail khan: Regional Police Officer (RPO) Syed Ashfaq Anwar paid a surprise visit to Shorkot Police Station to review the security arrangements at the station.

During the visit, he inspected the police station's records, lockup, and the barracks for the police personnel to ensure that all arrangements were in place.

According to police spokesman, the RPO met with the police officers and personnel present at the station and instructed them to remain fully alert during their duties, given the current circumstances.

He emphasized that officers should treat the complainants with courtesy, offer them respect, and provide immediate relief.

He further directed that police officers must remain actively engaged in combating crime, particularly focusing on cases involving murder, attempted murder, drug dealers, land grabbers, car thieves, and street crimes.

The RPO also lauded the performance of the policemen. He also instructed them to ensure that everyone visiting the station is treated with respect, to further strengthen public trust in the police force.

POA President for revival of int’l sports in Pakistan

Lahore: The newly-elected President Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) Arif Saeed has vowed to gear up efforts for the revival of international sports in the country and improve country soft image globally though sports. Chairing the executive committee meeting of the POA here on Thursday, he stressed the need for restoring the trust of international sports community through consolidated efforts, adding that he would foster harmonious relations with all stake-holders including Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for revitalizing sports sector in the country. 'Pakistan held world titles in sports like cricket, hockey, snooker and squash during its heyday but ups and downs are natural part of sports as no one remains at the top forever,' President Arif Saeed remarked, adding continuous efforts were needed to improve.

He also emphasized his commitment to put up efforts so that sports and athletes get due recognition in the country. Urging the office bearers of various sports federations, the POA President invited proposals for promoting sports at national and international levels within the first 100 days, adding that their proposals would be key to outlining actionable steps for the advancement and development of sports in Pakistan. He said the International Olympic Committee (IOC) was actively supporting well-being of athletes worldwide, and similarly, the POA and National Sports Federations (NSFs) should strive to do the same. He stressed the need for benefit from and learn from the programs offered by the IOC and International Sports Federations. The meeting was attended by POA Secretary General Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, Vice Presidents Maj (R) Majid Wasim and Andleeb Sandhu, Executive Vice President of the National Rifle Association of Pakistan Javed Lodhi, President of the Softball Federation of Pakistan Asif Azeem, and Secretary General of the Islamabad Olympic Association Rizwan ul Haq Razi.

Preparations reviewed for Matiari agro-livestock & handicrafts expo 2025

Hyderabad: The Deputy Commissioner Matiari Muhammad Yousif Shaikh on Thursday chaired an important meeting at the DC Office to review arrangements for the upcoming Agro-Livestock and Handicrafts Expo 2025. The event was scheduled to take place on February 8 and 9, 2025.

The meeting was attended by officials of various departments, engineers and representatives of civil defense, NGOs and other organizations.

During the meeting, the deputy commissioner directed all stakeholders to fulfill their responsibilities diligently to ensure the successful organization of the expo.
