Quetta: Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC), reported 416 fatalities and 31,854 people injured in 23,257 traffic accidents that occurred on the highways of Balochistan during 2024. According to data released by Medical Emergency Response Center (MERC), most of the accidents occurred on N-25, N-50 and N-65. From January 1 to December 31, 2024, 23257 accidents occurred on highways in the 26 districts of Balochistan, including Kalat, Killa Saifullah, Pishin, Zhob, Mastung, Lasbela, Khuzdar and other areas of the province. The MERC responded to 23257 road accidents that happened on the main highways of Balochistan in the last year and provided medical treatment to 6267 njured people while shifting the dead bodies to the nearest hospitals. It is to mention that, like rescue teams across the country, MERC teams in Balochistan are being at the forefront of saving lives and serving humanity. Their dedicated service has been praised by the public, who have called on the government to provide necessary benef its and facilities to the MERC teams in recognition of their outstanding performance, aiming to further improve their work in the province.
Azma says 2024 successful year in Punjab’s history
Lahore: Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has declared 2024 as the most successful year in the province's history. She highlighted that Maryam Nawaz launched over 77 public relief projects, with more than 50 already completed. Importantly, all of these initiatives were funded using Punjab's own resources, she added. Bokhari emphasised that Punjab was leading in development, prosperity, and public welfare compared to other provinces of Pakistan. Relief has been extended to every segment of society, including students, farmers, women, and youth, without any discrimination, she said and added that for the first time, relief packages had also been introduced for minorities in Punjab. The Information minister criticised previous leaders, stating that for four years, Punjab's resources were plundered by figures like 'Pinky', 'Googi', and the Captain. She praised Maryam Nawaz for addressing these injustices and improving the lives of people. Today, the standard of living in Punjab was now far s uperior to that of other provinces, contributing to Maryam Nawaz's growing popularity. She confidently expressed that Punjab's development journey would continue on this trajectory over the next five years.

Sargodha: Deputy Commissioner Sargodha Capt (Retd) Muhammad Waseem emphasized the vital role of journalism in national progress and development, describing it as the fourth pillar of the state.
He stated that the significance of journalism in society cannot be denied, as journalists serve as the sensory organs of the community, identifying issues that pave the way for institutional solutions, thereby steering society in the right direction.

He commended local journalists for their collaborative efforts with the administration and their promotion of positive practices, hoping this cooperation would continue in the future.
Speaking at the event, Director of Solid Waste Management Company and former MPA Abdul Razzaq Dhillon, along with the City President of PML-N and former MPA Dr. Liaquat Ali Khan, lauded the journalists of Sargodha for upholding high journalistic standards and fostering innovative traditions in the field. They assured attendees that any issues raised by journalists would be addressed on a priority basis.

Faisalabad Rescue-1122 receives 157,324 calls during 2024
Faisalabad: The Punjab Emergency Services (PES) Rescue-1122 Faisalabad received 157,324 emergency calls in its control room during the last year 2024.
Presiding over annual review meeting of the central rescue station here on Wednesday, Incharge Control Room Ghulam Shabir said that 157,324 emergency calls were included 33,754 road accidents, 105,877 medical, 2065 fire eruption, 3583 crime, 111 drowning, 169 building collapse, 8 gas cylinder blast, and 10,390 miscellaneous.
The teams rescued 149,094 victims of which 74,693 were provided first aid and 67,552 were shifted to various hospitals.
