Islamabad: Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan, Khazar Farhadov, called on Federal Minister for Privatization, Board of Investment, and Communications Abdul Aleem Khan in a meeting on Saturday, where they both agreed to promote joint projects and trade partnerships, with practical work set to begin in the coming days.
The bilateral diplomatic activities between Azerbaijan and Pakistan over the past several months, including high-level delegation exchanges and Pakistan’s active participation in the COP 29 conference in Baku, have started to yield positive results, said a press release.
During the meeting, Federal Minister Aleem Khan warmly welcomed Ambassador Farhadov and emphasized that, in addition to tourism, Pakistan can further strengthen bilateral cooperation with its friendly nations across various sectors.
He highlighted the need to translate mutual relations into business and trade, noting that positive progress has already been made on both sides.
Aleem Khan invited Azerbaijani companies to inve
st and start businesses in Pakistan, stating that foreign investment can be facilitated through government-to-government (G2G) and business-to-business (B2B) channels in the current environment.
The minister also discussed opportunities for Azerbaijani investment in the M6 and M9 motorways from Karachi to Sukkur and Sukkur to Hyderabad. The minister underlined that Pakistan offers vast opportunities in numerous sectors, urging investors to take full advantage.
Ambassador Farhadov expressed his country’s commitment to working with Pakistan on investment and joint projects.
The meeting also highlighted the collaborative efforts of Pakistan, Azerbaijan, and Trkiye.
Following the discussions, it was decided, on the instructions of Aleem Khan, to appoint a Focal Person from the Board of Investment to maintain close communication with the Government of Azerbaijan.
