Quetta: The Balochistan government has invited applications for its PhD Scholarships Program under the Education Endowment Fund, offering talented youth opportunities to pursue higher education and research at more than 100 prestigious universities worldwide.

Last year, six candidates secured placements in leading institutions, including the University of Leeds (UK), University of Copenhagen (Denmark), University of Alberta (Canada), University of Queensland (Australia), University of Bristol (UK), and University of Malaya (Malaysia), in diverse fields ranging from molecular biology and food safety to politics, gender studies, and structural engineering.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, expressed satisfaction over the program’s expansion, describing it as a beacon of hope for the province’s future. He emphasized that the initiative is not merely about scholarships but ab
out opening doors of knowledge, research, and progress for generations to come. Sarfraz Bugti said: ‘Balochistan’s future lies not with those who take up arms and hide in the mountains, but with those who hold books and prove their talent in the world’s leading universities.’
He reiterated that investing in education and skill development is the most effective way to counter extremism, empower youth, and integrate Balochistan into the global academic and economic landscape. The government’s vision, he added, is to prepare young scholars to compete internationally and to place Balochistan firmly on the map of global research and innovation.
