Quetta: Balochistan has achieved a historic milestone with the completion of its first-ever mass transit project, the Jinnah Peoples Train, which is now ready to serve the public.
The provincial government announced that the 32-kilometer railway track from Kuchlak to Sariab has been fully upgraded, with the project completed in a record 120 days at a cost of Rs. 3 billion.
The route includes seven stations: Kuchlak, Baleli, Sheikh Manda, GOR, Quetta, Lur Kariz, and Sariab. These stations are expected to cater to thousands of passengers daily, providing safe, comfortable, and affordable travel facilities to the residents of Quetta and its surrounding areas.
Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, expressed his delight over the timely completion of the project and announced that the train service will soon be opened to the public. He emphasized that the Jinnah Peoples Train will significantly ease daily commuting for students, employees, traders, and ordinary citizens, reducing both travel time and expenses.
Sarfraz Bugti described the initiative as a major step toward modern and dignified travel facilities in the province. He added that the timely completion of public welfare projects is beginning to deliver tangible benefits to the people, reflecting the government’s commitment to improving urban infrastructure.
The Jinnah Peoples Train is expected to bring a marked improvement in transport facilities for Quetta and its suburbs, offering a reliable and cost-effective alternative to existing modes of travel.
