Lahore

Lahore: The Lahore district administration has intensified an emergency crackdown against bird hazards around the airport to ensure safe air travel and flight operations, on the directions of Deputy Commissioner Lahore Muhammad Ali Ejaz. As part of the drive, pigeon cages within the airport limits were removed in compliance with aviation regulations, while daily inspections of sensitive bird-hazard points around the airport have been ordered.

The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) also carried out cleaning operations at the bird-hazard point on Yazdani Road, while the sensitive Raja Park area is being checked daily to keep it free of birds.

The DC directed the relevant teams to remove pigeon cages and clean places being used for bird breeding around the airport, besides ensuring regular monitoring of all identified bird-hazard points.

He directed the authorities to adopt a zero-tolerance policy towards activities that could pose a

threat to aviation safety and strictly comply with aviation regulations. ‘Ensuring the safety of airspace and passengers is our priority,’ he said, adding that teams were actively working to keep bird-hazard points clean and ensure compliance with aviation regulations.
